(S02E02) I have to admit... this episode was a bit of a letdown. I just figured that they'd keep the pace going for at least a couple episodes, especially after such a big return last week. Not the case. We're back into the normal swing, and as much as I love this show, I wanted more. I was hoping we'd get some story on the repercussions of what The Fisher King did. I've read a few things though, and I think we're going to get them, but not in the way that many people would expect. So I'll just come out and talk about it because at this point, it's been reported so I don't feel as though I'm spoiling anything. Elle is being written out of the show after six episodes. Run a Google search for Lola Glaudini leaving Criminal Minds. It's all over the internet but I think Ausiello over at TV Guide reported on it first. Some of the reports went on to say that producers are trying to get Portia de Rossi to come on as a new agent.
So we'll see where this takes us, but it seems like over the next four episodes the job is going to be too much for Elle. Maybe she keeps having flashbacks to the day she was shot? Who knows. But it looks like we have three options. Hotch fires her. She leaves the B.A.U. on her own. Or she dies because, if I had to guess, she puts herself in harm's way due to her clouded judgment. All sound plausible.
They've already started the transformation of Elle though. When she returned to work in this episode, she looked disheveled, her hair was shorter, and she was adamant that she absolutely had to come back to work. Although come to think of it... everyone's hair/appearance looked a little different. If I had to guess, they probably shot last year's finale and this year's premiere at the same time which would account for why everyone looks different in this second episode. Whatever, I'm rambling.
This episode did introduce some characters from The Crimes Against Children Unit. I wonder if we'll see them as recurring roles? Oh, and can someone explain the title to me? What's the "P" for?
What I'm curious about is Elle though (because like I said, the episode wasn't all that great). What do we think. How will she be written out?

P probably stands for Peter, the fictional name The Crimes Against Children Unit gave the little boy.

Ok - color me shallow, but I liked Elle's hair. Reid's hair on the other hand looked like it needed a good washing.
I have a hard time imagining Portia de Rossi as a part of this unit. I thought they were trying to introduce one of the two women from the CACU unit as Elle's replacement but I bet you are correct and we will see more of their unit owking with the BAU.

Ah, that's too bad about Lola leaving... I'm a big Elle fan. It will certainly be interesting to see how they write her off, though... don't you think that having her shot/attacked twice might be a little much? I wonder what would have to happen for her to leave/be fired, however...
As to who will replace her... what was the name of the agent working under Katie at CACU who spotted "Peter" online? Amanda or something? In any case, I wonder if she was introduced for a reason. Or maybe Katie's coming back to BAU? Who knows. All I know is that I'm about to have a conflict when "Lost" comes back next week, and "CM" is pretty likely to lose out. Too bad.

Dani - Reid always looks like he could use a bath so I'm with you on that! I thought it was a pretty decent episode - the subject of child predators is hard for me to watch. You just want to forget they're out there. This ep did a good job of scaring the hell out of me by reminding me they're real.

Ausiello now reports that DeRossi declined the role and that the part has now been offered to "Profiler" & "Melrose Place" star Jamie Luner.

I read today on the website that Paget Brewster will have a recurring role. As we all know today, Elle has now become a murderer and stalker. I am sort of glad she is going......she always seemed to not quite fit the role, in my mind. I am looking forward to some new interactions on the show.

If the producers know anything at all, they'd hire Sharon Gless. She is funny, witty, and so what if she's over 60? And what about Law and Order's SVU temp Dani Beck (Connie Nielsen). She is amazing. Portia de Rossi is too bland. Connie Nielsen is a dead-ringer in many ways for the sultry young Kathleen Turner in 'Body Heat'. Also, let's remember "Third Watch"'s character Yokis and Cruz...both excellent choices to be cast as FBI agents on Criminal Minds! Give the fabulous Mandy Pitinkin a female co-star who can stand up to or equate to his charismatic star power!!! SHARON GLESS. I love this show. (BTW the drippy blond is boring...Garcia is funny...Reid is perfectly done...the portrayal of Reid's schizophrenic Mom is superbly done...Hotch needs to focus on work and stop being Mr. Mom... Shemar Moore is perfect in his role too) Oh give Mandy Pitinkin (the star!) more air time and more juicy emotional scenes..he is the best actor!

Sharon Gless would be incredible! What about she and Tyne Daly doing a guest type show on CM ? Possiible recurring roles? Ratings would skyrocket. Fans love seeing the oldies but goodies (not referring to age, but former hit shows). Idea: Cast Sharon Gless as Mandy's competitive sister! (I'm a writer with great ideas):)
