Very good article over at BuddyTV. Someone finally took the time to sit down and explain this entire "Lost Experience" online game that's been going on all summer long. Well it's officially over and based on everything I've read and the little effort I put into "playing along", the general consensus seems to be that the whole entire thing sucked big time.
There were all those video clips from the Hanso Exposed website, that book Bad Twin, plus there was cell phone content too... right? I'm sure I'm missing other aspects. Too much to keep up with if you ask me but if you didn't have the time to stay current (did anyone?), that link above gives a decent synopsis of the whole thing including the meaning behind the numbers. It's all pretty disappointing and seems to lack the creativity that drives the show. Fortunately, it's completely separate from the series and now that it's concluded we can just forget that the "Lost Experience" ever existed. The third season of Lost premieres on October 4.

I don't think you should be too crititcal. They tried something which was more creative than what the majority of shows have done during their breaks. Although it was free advertising in a way, they did try to make it fun.
They didn't have to do it. In the end it wasn't brilliant. They were always going to be constrained because the TV show has to be the main engine as the majority of viewers will not follow the Lost Experience, as I have not, other than reading a short synopsis now and again.

I think it was an excellent effort. The extent to which the Lost Experience integrated television (the show itself, ads, live spots on talk shows), with the web (blogs, video, YouTube, a host of sites), product marketing (Sprite), and even live events (Rachel Blake's appearance at Comic-Con) and brought it all together in an entertaining package is no small feat.
It also goes to show how die-hard Lost fans can be - I tried to follow along, but couldn't keep up with the thousands that were ten steps ahead, checking source code on websites to get clues, pulling together film frames to make a video, etc.
At the very least, it's kept Lost alive over a long summer and made me look forward to the season premiere that much more!!

I'm married to the equivalent of the TV canary in the coal mine. Between my cynicism and her interest level, we make a pretty good predictor on what's going to work on TV.
Bottom line, many enjoyed the challenge, but for those who were aware of the ARG but wanted no part in it were RESENTFUL of anything being presented away from the stuff that aired.
So, even though it may be fun, I think we've seen the end of any major tie in spoiler stuff. There's obviously way too much work to be done for "away from the aired programming" material to actually seriously work.
Time will tell whether there's a defection in the core audience of LOST this year or not.
especially if the numbers turn out to be fraudulent

with 6 airplanes? Could it represent the amount of
airplanes that have been on the Island?
Lost is the coolest show I have seen in years.
