Surprise, surprise. NBC is reportedly getting cold feet over plans to air a Madonna concert in which she crucifies herself. The New York Daily News reports that NBC is being pressured by the American Family Association to censor the explicit portions of Madonna's concert. Of course, Madonna does not like to be censored and she is threatening to pull her concert off the air entirely. The crucifixion is in her Confessions tour and Madonna says the point of it is not to shock the audience, but it's a plea for people to help one another.Madonna may pull out of NBC concert

Well, as the networks prove yet again that they have little relevance in the "reality-based" community, and as we see yet again the outcry and influence of the motivated few dictate the content we are...or are not...fed, we should all show our heart-felt "appreciation" by watching HBO, Comedy Central, Bravo, BBC America, ESPN and the other alternatives.
If the supposed caretakers of the public airwaves feel so strongly that these twits are their "golden demo", we should let them have each other, IMO.
And really, how hard is it to NOT watch network television, anyway...except House and Lost, that is. :)

She needs to be pulled out of that concert completely. No artist has a right to crucify herself. Who does she think she is?

It seems that NBC looks for opportunities to attack Christianity...why is that? Bad taste is bad taste and no reson that garbage (Madonna on the cross) should be splashed across our TV sets.
Tip of the hat to the American Family Association for their courage to stand up and be counted. Shame on NBC and that washed up Madonna.

If you don't like it, turn it off. the American Family Association is as bad as the religious dictators in the middle east. This is supposed to be a free country. Go Madge!

Im sure if she was tying herself to a glittering mirrored swastika or dressing like a crazy clans person burning crosses there would be a HUGE uproar, and she would not DARE perform such a stunt. But for good old MADGE, attacking Christianity, Jesus, is just fine though. Pathetic.

ONCE AGAIN CENSORSHIP HAS REARED IT'S UGLY HEAD. WHATEVER HAPPENED TO ONE BEING ABLE TO EXPRESS THEMSELVES IN A MANNER THAT MAY NOT APPEAL TO ALL THE MASSES. IF YOU DON'T WANT TO SEE HER PORTRAY A CRUCIFIXTION THEN WATCH SOMETHING ELSE, LIKE THE 700 CLUB.

HOORAY FOR NBC. I HOPE THAT THIS IS A START AT GETTING THE PROGRAMMING BACK TO WHERE WE CAN ALL WATCH & ENJOY GOOD CLEAN ENTERTAINMENT. LET MADONNA DO HER THING WITH THE AUDIENCES THAT PAY TO SEE HER.
I CONGRATULATE THE POWERS THAT BE AT NBC FOR THEIR DECISION AND OF MAINTAINING A STANDARD THAT WE CAN ALL VIEW IN COMFORT WITHOUT BEING BOMBARDED WITH THIS TYPE OF BALSPHEMOUS DEMOMSTRATION BY MADONNA.
I THANK YOU SINCERELY FOR YOUR WISE DECISION.

It's not the outcry of a few. It happens to be what most of America believes and what we want to be shown on TV. I don't know where you've been the last 20 years but TV is getting more trashy by the day. Each network is trying to out-do the other and they usually resort to some type of sexual content, violence or the trusty controversial programming. I can't turn the channel now without seeing a gay or lesbian on. That's about all MTV shows on their so called reality TV shows. But what do you care? It's just what the kids watch everyday. The scary thing isn't people like me. It's what we consider the "norm" and that's where people like you fall right into their hands. You remember me the next time you say those words:
"Where did we go wrong?"
Now go back to sleep.

"Madonna says the point of it is not to shock the audience, but it's a plea for people to help one another." Hmm....and here I was thinking it was just another one of her publicity stunts, stirring up controversy to get free publicity. Geez, I guess she does really care. Her heart must be the size of Angelina's, at least!

Yes this is America - but freedom does not allow a mockary of what is considered sacred by many. In this time of turmoil in our land - many of us have found solice in this "symbol" of honest love and sacrifice - and I do believe in and love the freedom America stands for and our soldiers are fighting for - however - I believe more strongly that certain things are and should be protected and respected - like the cross, our flag and our children. If this was happening in another country I think many of you would feel much differently and take offense -

The truth is, pepople with a moral compass ARE the majority and our voices are finally being heard. We are tired of garbage like Madonna being force fed to us/our kids. She doesn't even let her own kids watch TV, yet she wants us to watch her "entertain" us. It's commendable that NBC desires to keep television decent. Madonna is a hypocrite. I would love to see someone show the same disrespect to her precious kaballah. I think Madonna has some deep seated issues about the church and has used her fame to criticize something she can't understand and which refuses to bend and sway to her whims. Madonna...please just stop the nonsense, live in England, speak with a phony accent if you must, and keep your trash out of our kids lives. WE don't want or need you.

You can't do or say anything that might be considered offensive to Gay/Lesbian, African American, Jewish, Muslim, but it's just fine to air something TOTALLY OFFENSIVE to the Christian population. The concert does not need to air AT ALL if the crucifixion segment can't be edited out.

Funny how making fun of Islam or other religions ; or , for that matter, other races, gays, etc., etc. is widely condemned in this country, but its OK for Christianity to be made fun of , and everyone just acts like Christians should just get over it and shut up. If Madonna is trying to make an "artistic statement" , I say , go all the way - take a couple of nails in the wrist, Madge. That`ll REALLY give people something to talk about.

Teresa and pnut your comments are right on... There's no reason at all to air this. It's offensive and clearly confirms her lack of class/intelligence. People certainly shouldn't let Madonna define religion or even make an incoherent statement on it, as she's done.

What a desperate has-been. Must give her props though, she's still the best under-educated marketing person I've ever known.
Since she goes both ways, why doesn't she grow a pair of balls and go after some other religious group? Only Christians would look at one another and go "Tsk, tsk. Shame, shame." Any other group would raise hell. Madonna, you are a wimp!!!

This is just "dear ole Madge's" way of shocking her points into the viewing head...Lets face it, you are watching Madonna. Not Barney the dinasour. You almost expect "schtick" like this outta her. When she crosses the your personal line, that is when you exercise your personal rights and your remote and change the channel. With Madonna you take everything with a grain of salt, geeze if we didnt, we would all be running the streets naked or leather and large hand floggers. Thank the Maker, her "sex" days are gone....its a pity she isnt.

Perhaps if Madonna really wants attention with real value,, she could offer up a pay for view.
She could set herself on fire ,, and hey...I'd be willing to pay alot to see that. Reality at its best. I'd even stand and applaude,, ( which would be a first for anything she's ever done before).
