The average American home has more televisions than people. When I saw that statistic from Nielsen Media Research, I thought I was bucking the trend. And then I thought a little harder and realized I'm the average American. There are two people in my household: my husband and myself. And, guess how many television sets we have? Three! There's the main set in our living room, hooked up to two TiVos, a Nintendo and a DVD player. Then there's the TV set in our bedroom, which we got this summer when it was 104 degrees and the only air conditioning in our house was in the master bedroom. Oh, and that elusive third television set is in the garage. It's positioned right in front of the very dusty treadmill. Still, it's plugged in and it sort-of works (the pixels are dying so it looks like everything is in letterbox).I wanna know: How many television sets in your home? And, which rooms are they in? This could get interesting...

It's me, hubby, daughter, and son (he is at college but still technically lives with us) and the 4 of us have 5 TVs plugged in and another packed away for camping trips.
1 in living room
1 in master bed room
1 in daughter's room
2 in son's room (so he can play video games and watch TV at the same time - LOL)

There are two people in my household (myself and my boyfriend) and we have 3 TVs.
1 in the living room (with a DVR box)
1 in the master bedroom
1 in the guest room
We also have a Mac plugged into the cable that can be used to watch and record TV. Does that count?

Right now two of us live at home and three tv's are plugged in with another one collecting dust and needs to be hooked up.
We really only use two of them, the family room and master bedroom. We have two small 13" tv's for the guest room and office. Only one has been set up so far.

There are 5 of us--my parents, sister, grandmother and me.
1) TV in Dining Room -- 17 in. visible from Kitchen and Office - basic cable with HBO
2) TV in Living Room - 24 in. with DVD player, VCR, Digital Cable with HBO and Showtime
3) TV in my Sister's Bedroom - 32 in. with 5 disc DVD player, Playstation, Sega, Nintendo, and we used to hook up the Atarti every once in a while, Basic/HBO
4) TV in my Bedroom - DVD, VCR, Digital DVR with HBO/Showtime
5) TV in Grandmother's den - 27 in., VCR, Basic/HBO
6) TV in Grandmother's bedroom - 27 in., Basic/HBO
7) TV in Parent's Bedroom - 13 in. VCR combo, Basic/HBO
We had a TV in the basement that would get in channel 10 if you let it warm up for an hour or two. I have a small 13 inch one from my old apartment but the remote doesn't work and it forgets it has cable. And it gets stuck on channel 0 (all fuzz). So working TVs - 7; including non-fully-functioning - 9.
We might have an addiction.

There are four of us in our house and we have 7 TV's plus a tv tuner on my Mac but I barely use that other than to archive video in general.
Of the 7, one is a tiny old tv which seemingly broke, was replaced then came back to life. It doesn't have a remote and is more like a monitor. We have a satellite box, video, freeview box in a spare room and it's then routed around the house. These boxes can be controlled from those others rooms so it would really only be on if something went wrong. It's not actually watched.
The others are 3 in bedrooms, kitchen, living room, lounge.

I enjoy tv but I am continually stunned by these statistics. I don't know where I'd find the time to watch that much tv!
There are four people in our house - me, my husband and our two kids (ages 9 and 6). We have ONE tv with just 6 or 7 channels. No cable, no satellite, no gamebox stuff.

3 of us (me, wife, 1 yr old son)
1 - HDTV mounted on covered deck
1 - HDTV in living room (HD-Tivo, DVD player)
1 - Son's room (doesn't watch tv yet)
1 - Master Bedroom - Tivo
1 - HDTV in basement TV room (Tivo, xbox 360)
1 - Home office (Tivo)
As you can see, 3 hdtvs, 3 sdtvs, 4 tivos, 2 TV junkies and on budding junkie.
Surprisingly, we have a life outside of the house. But when our son goes to bed, it's TV time.

Wow! I knew I was in the minority but had no idea how minor! We are two adults and we have one TV in the livingroom. Even if I occasionally watch a downloaded show directly on the computer, I'm still not calling it a TV (we only have one computer as well). Just call us low-tech Canadians.

1 in living room w/tivo
1 in office
1 in bedroom w/tivo
1 in spare bedroom
1 broken in basement
1 working in basement
2 tiny portables to use when taking baths
8 total televisions for two people (and I'm not nuts!)
I hate to think of these all being obsolete when all tv goes HD - isn't that how it will work?

We have a 1:1 ratio. 4 people in our house and 4 TVs. Front room, my wife and my bedroom, daughter's room and son's room (technically his TV is his computer via ATI All-In-Wonder card and a 19" monitor).
The front room has a TV, cable receiver, DVD, VCR and a computer.
My daughter has a regular TV, cable receiver, DVD and VCR in her room...
My son has his computer (2 internal DVD burners), cable receiver, VCR, N64, XBOX(DVD), PS2(DVD), Game Cube (all viewable through the computer tuner card), cable modem and router (wired and wireless) for the entire house.
My wife and my room has a TV, cable receiver, home theatre, DVD, PVR and my computer/media server with 2 16X DVD burners and 2.4 Terabytes of HD space holding 520 movies playable through the TV/home theatre and all computers on the network (wired or wireless).
Oh yea aside from the 3 computers already mentioned, my wife and I each have our own wireless laptop and I have another spare computer I will probably be giving away to another family member. Almost forgot 4 mp3 players and 4 cell phones.
As I am typing this I am thinking that is sick...but I love it...hehehehe

I say "technically" because both my husband and I have the cable TV wired into our computers, so we can watch TV on the monitors while working in our home offices.
