I've watched a couple episodes of Rachael Ray's new show this week. And I'm surprised I have the energy to type these words.
The woman is exhausting. She's running around the stage like a nut showing a cool feature that the stage has, high fiving people in the audience, opening doors to grab more spices, etc, etc. You get exhaused and just a bit nervous watching her, even from the comfort of your living room. I have this overwhelming feeling that sometime next week, men in white coats are going to burst into the studio and grab her and take her away after injecting her with a sedative. They'll be dragging her out the door and she'll be screaming, "No, no!!! I've got to put more parmesan on my sandwiches!!! I've got to put my parmesan on my sandwiches!!"
Is she annoying? God, I can imagine her being annoying to many people, even her target audience. I mean, I've never had a problem with her, though maybe that was because I always saw her in small doses. But now she has several shows on Food Network, her own daily syndicated show, and her own magazine, and I think any energetic personality can get to you when you're exposed to so much of it. She's everywhere. She's actually on top of my monitor right now, waving to me, asking me what I'm having for dinner tonight.
I'm also not sure if I like her little closing line, where she says "everybody needs a little R and R." Doesn't R and R stand for Rest and Relaxation? What the hell does that have to do with Rachael Ray or her show? And I always get a little annoyed when someone refers to themselves in this way, sort of in the third person. If someone else said it about her, that would be one thing, but saying it about herself?
Of course, that's not going to stop me from doing the same thing. I'd like to announce that from now on, everyone one of my posts is going to be "Total B.S.!"

You know I thought I was the only one who finds her way too much. I think she is an okay cook but I can't watch her 30 minute meal show anymore because I always feel like she is yelling at me or thinks we can't hear her through the TV.

She is high-energy, but at least the show is interesting and beneficial. Daytime TV needs more variety instead of just run-of-the-mill soaps and talk shows. I don't watch TV during those hours, but a certain segment of the population does. Instead of draining those people of desire to go out and acomplish things in life RR asks and encourages them to.
If Rachael Ray can be cited for one great accomplishment, she has demistified cooking. Now it will be interesting to see what she can do with TV time not devoted to food.

Rachael Ray is so damn excitable that she can't even be bothered to finish entire words. Her vocabulary is full of lazy words like "delish," "EVOO" (short for extra virgin olive oil), and "GB" (garbage bowl). And don't even get me started on her wildly erratic hand gestures.
This woman irritates me to no end.

See, her version of "R and R" stands for "Rachael Ray." Get it? Everybody needs some Rachael Ray.
I'm sure the genius who decided on that as the closing line was aiming for "funny and cute," but really what they ended up with was irony. I caught 5 minutes of that show today, and Rachael Ray is the complete opposite of Rest and Relaxation.

I have always enjoyed her past efforts on both the Food Network and her guest appearances on Oprah, but this version of Ray is exhausting and a tad annoying. She was just so LOUD and BUSY. She reminded me of that person at the party that has had maybe one too many (please note that I am in no way accusing her of any sort of chemical use or imbalance) and just becomes a bit annoying.
I wish her well and hope this is just the result of first week jitters and being a rookie in this format.

Hmm.. maybe all of her energy is due to the fact that it's not really 'parmesan' on her sandwiches? Discuss.

yeah, she was super-loud. I watched the first two episodes and don't think I'll be making it a point to continue (unless something sounds REALLY good).

It's her voice that gets to me. I can only watch her after I hit the mute button on my remote. But that kinda defeats the meaning of a talk show doesn't it?

These shows were pre-taped so I would be interested to see how they adjust to the criticism of the show. She at least admits that she's loud and spastic. She pretty much agrees with what alot of people say about her and admits that's who she is. So it's a take it or leave it kind of situation with her.
I like her take on the whole talk show thing so far. It's alot better than Megan's show. The moving audience fascinates me for some odd reason. I don't know if it's nerves or she's trying to hard to introduce all her ideas or something but I'm hoping with time she will get into a rhythm.

On the whole, I like Rachel Ray, although I didn't see her talk show, and don't plan to. I'm not terribly fond of her voice, but she didn't choose it so that criticism is unfair. She's damned cute in my eyes and I find her most attractive when captured in the medium of still photography.
Now I'm hungry...

I personally can't stand her. She, in just one week, has insulted atleast one person a day in her audiance. Yesterday, when she was having the "WHO CAN CARRY THE MOST STUFF" contest. Not only did she NOT give the woman the trophey (because, in her opinion, 2 apples are one ingrediant) she then went on and told her she looked like a suckling pig. The chick has no class, the audiance..(whom are her biggest fans) look on in A DEER STUCK IN THE HEADLIGHTS look. She is just a mess, and soon she will be made such a joke of, in many nighttime shows. Te big "O", is probably really rethinking her big find. And I also hate at the end of her show, she says.."I'll seeya, when I seeya!"..Like it is no big deal if you tune in the next day or not. Well, she can be reassured that I won't be seeing her anytime soon.

Just watched an episode of her new show on CBS, and I am a little disappointed and unimpressed: particularly by the 'Ask Rach' segment where a child asked, 'Do you get a lot of free stuff now that you are famous?’ I was bothered by the fact that instead of giving the child any meaningful questions, she seemed immediately to go into 'let's dumb it down for the kid' mode', and then attempted to 'relate' to the child by saying that she couldn't eat most of the free stuff sent her, because then she'd be 'big and fat' (to illustrate her point, she made the appropriate 'Stay-Puft' marshmallow man face-way to re-enforce the 'thin people are better than fat people' bias!). NEWSFLASH: If she wants to relate to children, try answering their questions with honesty, and asking them questions she and her audience might REALLY want to know the answer to. She may also want to consider that acting childish and juvenile doesn't make her more 'relatable', it just makes her an adult who's willing to pander to reach EVERY demographic. Am I the only one who finds ironic/hipocrytical that seems to have a discriminatory attitude against overweight people, but adds a TON of fat to all her recipes?

I've been watching Rachael Ray's new talk show for about a week and a half now. I guess I'm hoping she will calm down. She makes me so tired. She is constantly screaming at the audience. Even when Dr. Phil was on he was all calm and she was like a train wreck. I use to watch her all the time when she first started out doing "30-minute meals". Somewhere the girl has changed. She was heavier then so I think she was more caring, if that makes any sense. She dressed more professional then she does now. And I'm sorry, but she always talks about that dog and her husband like she is the only woman on the earth to have either. I may not have a dog, but I do have a husband and I think he is the most fabulous man, but you don't see me screaming it in a camera daily. I'd like to hope her show gets better, she does have a good idea now and then, but if it doesn't change soon, I won't keep watching. I need my energy for my 2 small children, not a hyper screaming weirdo.

To have to listen to her, THEN having to put up with Rosie O'Donnell--Well, it forces me to stop watching TV and to get back to work!
THANKS ABC! Your programming is going to make me work and be wealthy!

I wish I had one quarter of the energy that Rachel Ray has, she is doing what she enjoys doing, and if this makes others envious, too bad. Some day she may be the next Mary Tyler Moore, as far as one of televisions most known and financially set women. As for her being imitated on the late shows, "imitation is the highest form of flattery". I think she is the hardest working woman on television, and support her all the way. This is only the second week of her show, and I would think that those people who are complaining might give her a chance, it cannot be easy to do a one hour talk show, plus everything else she does, and please everybody instantly. She is also a very "down to earth" person who enjoys her career, and her family, and is also a very generous individual. I say, "good job" RR.

I'm sorry to sound mean, but who cares about that? If you're on television, your job is to either entertain or inform me (or, in rare cases, do both). Jim Belushi might be a standup guy who loves his family, works hard and gives to charity, but it doesn't change the fact that According To Jim sucks and I won't watch it.
Rachael Ray is obviously a good person. But being a good person does not guarantee you success on TV or in life. And when it comes to TV, quite frankly, it shouldn't.
And John, I'm sorry to be beating you up with this; it's just that I see sentiments like this written time and time again (most often when referring to The View, by the way) and I can't stand it anymore.

I cannot stand RR. Why does everyone assume she knows everything about everything just because she can make up recipes? I really don't need her advice about shoes. I think this show can't possibly last because she will simply run out of stuff to talk about. When she has been married for twenty years and raised 6 children ( one of which is severly handicapped ) then she can "advise " me about my life. Hey why don't they give me a talk show!!?? I know EVERYTHING!! just ask my husband and kids!
Also why does she always say EVOO then say extra virgin olive oil anyway?? Give that girl some ritalin!

Personally I can't understand why she gives advice on what to feed children. She doesn't have any. She goes by a niece or a nephew and she thinks that qualifies her. Sorry! No child is like another.
