The Daily Show: September 18, 2006

The Daily ShowDuring an appearance on C-SPAN, Robert Novak, certified prick, claimed to have never seen The Daily Show and that he will go to the grave never having seen it. He then went on to call Jon Stewart a "self-righteous comedian taking on airs of grandeur". Jon, of course, found this absolutely hysterical because didn't Novak just say that he's never seen TDS? Silly Novak, uninformed opinions are for bloggers. Jon faced the camera and asked Novak to join him on neutral ground (Food Network, perhaps) and discuss. And I know it's wrong, but I find it highly amusing when Jon attempts a complicated prop joke and fails miserably in the process. C'mon, it's adorable.

"Tangled Up In Bleu": When Jon introduced a Jason Jones piece, I groaned and mumbled a bit, but I ended up being pleasantly surprised. Jones filed a report about Bleu Copas, one of the Army's few Arabic translators, who was recently discharged for being gay. Best line: "A large number of male homosexuals enjoy drinking each other's urine"... And that wasn't even a joke! Best moment: Jone's disturbing, gay club-influenced thrusting. Good lord. How does Samantha Bee feel about this?! Oh, and Bleu Copas looked like he was a really good sport about it. I know that if I had Jason Jones repeatedly thrusting his junk in my face, I probably would have punched him.

The night's guest was former president Bill Clinton. Of course, the audience went wild. It was a pretty solid interview... Clinton spent much of his time talking about his work for the William J. Clinton Foundation and other post-presidency work. "Seat of Heat": Ahh, a Hillary-related question. Assuming Hillary will run for president (the possibility of which is still up in the air), Jon asked, "What is the key to defeating her?" HA! Fantastic question. Clinton very smartly answered, "Getting more votes". You almost got him, Jon. Almost.

Jon/Stephen: No Stephen Colbert check-in. I guess Bill Clinton soaked up as much time as possible. Moment of Zen: A Cheney/shotgun joke? What a weird Moment of Zen to use. Few months too late!
