It's always terrible when someone dies, of course, but we're used to writing "at 75" or "at 83." Now twice in the past two weeks we've had to write up the obit of a celeb 20 or under (Daniel Smith was the first).
Pablo Santos, the star of the short-lived WB series Greetings From Tucson (which was actually pretty good) died in Mexico yesterday when the small plane he was flying in crashed on approach to the runway. The crash is being investigated.
Besides the WB sitcom, Santos had roles in Alias, The Shield, Law and Order: SVU, The Proud Family, Boston Public, and others. He had two movies this year, Gettin' Some Jail Time and the TV movie Walkout. (Santos is on the far right in the picture.)

I'm sorry but just because you are the son of a "celeb" (Smith) does not make you a celeb. Someone that has actually acted in role on TV should not be compared to the child of someone that acts. Come on Bob you are better then that! :) As for Santos, I've seen him in shows but can't remember who he is. Sad to hear he's died at such a young age.

I always liked him in "Greetings" and he was terrific in "Law and Order SVU" as this child sex slave. when i saw him the first time in an episode of "Alias" as this boy who helped Jennifer Garner, I thought he reminded me of tv child stars that would grow up to be good actors acting in those indie movies (like Joseph Gordon-Levitt perhaps.)

I am so sad to hear about Pablo Santos. I really enjoyed his acting on Greetings from Tucson and even have some episodes stored away on DvD. He was funny and very real as an actor and he will be missed :(

WHO the heck is/was Pablo Santos? It's a shame he's dead, especially in such a tragic way, but WHY did he merit all the news coverage, etc.?? Celebrity?? I think not. Never heard of him. But RIP.

It is a terrible shame and tragedy, as you have mentioned to have to report the death of a celebrity of any age let alone one as young and talented as Pablo Santos...his death did in fact merit all the news coverage it received, as he has been acting from such a young age and has left behind some memorable performances testifying to the talent he had and the bright up and coming future this very young, very talented man appeared to have before him. In a couple of his roles, he was the only reason to view it enjoyably... he came through with shining colors in all his performances, and he was a sweet and gentle soul as Daniel Kirsner, a classmate mentions above...and because a few people have never heard of him or don't remember his name or face does not exclude him from the media attention his tragic death created. Those unfamiliar with his work should go back and view his last few film roles or TV guest roles to see what a talent he was, and where he would have gone...he acted from the soul. He will be sorely missed, and my condolences to his family and his other friends and adoring fans...peace be with you Pablo!

I have known Pablo and his family since I can remember. I'm from Monterrey as well and I'm a friend of his oldest sister. Pablo was such a cute kid with so much energy and potential to be the next "Tom Cruise". I am really sorry about this tragic event and he was 1 of the 2 kids that died on that plane accident. He comes from a great family and a great city. Monterrey is mourning the loss.

We met Pablo as a 1st time Movie Producer of the movie Gettin' Some Jail Time in 2005. He was a wonderfully talented teenager and a very nice young man. We had not heard of him prior to that time, and now realize that it's him that we've have been watching on some of those prime time episodes. His co-producer and fellow actor/classmate, Eddie DeLeon, was also on that plane and we are praying for total recovery from his injuries. So much has been lost in Pablo, our hearts go out to his family and friends. Rest in peace my young friend. Lendell and Philliphe Brown
