Rockstar: Supernova: Finale

supernova4(S02E22) Well, as was reported earlier, they won't really be called Supernova now that a judge has ruled they can't use that name but the ragtag rockers have picked their lead singer. Like Big Brother's finale last night, this one was a total snore resulting in a reveal that everyone already knew anyway (anyone who reads internet rumors that is).

It's not surprising to see Toby and Magni in the bottom two since Dilana and Lukas have been the chosen ones since the beginning but I had hoped that the Toby fans would skew the voting. Was the Rand Wagon just a fiction to keep us involved in the show?

Once again Magni sings Fire and he does a great job but he seems to know he is going home. He's a great musician. He could be a strong member of any band, he's just not going to bring nations of ladies to their knees.

Toby breaks out White Wedding. I wonder if Toby performs in 1980s cover bands. He's quite fit but might want to stay away from buttoning shirts up to his throat, it makes him look a bit too beefy.

What is Lukas doing in a Survivor commercial? Hello, foreshadowing.

Lukas sings Bittersweet Symphony, Dilana sing Zombie and Toby takes on Somebody Told Me. This is all a big slice of filler. Of all of them Lukas seems the most passionate. I realize that I have become so accustomed to Toby pulling a stunt three quarters of the way through a song that I am waiting for him to rip off his shirt or do a flip or something. Instead, he mainly seems to be rushing through it.

The band wastes no time is dispatching Toby who seems to know he was fighting a losing battle anyway. It's no big surprise when Lukas gets the nod as the lead singer. After all, as I said after the first episode, it's been his to lose all along. Dilana manages to hold it together especially since they offer her the services of the house band on tour and Gilby and Dave Navarro offer to help her create an album. I suspect the final group of rockers have known that it was going to be Lukas for a while.

A fashion aside, Lukas should rethink the long coat. For someone so height-challenged, a shorter jacket would be much better. He's not bad with the band but I suspect Jason Newsted's going to be nagging him about closing off his voice for months to come.
