(S03E06) Ok... Meredith? Rodney's first name is Meredith? What did he do to anger the writers and how can we make it happen again? McKay is so energetic and blatantly emotional that he's become one of my favorites to watch on screen. The combination of plot devices - two
Watch out for the intro - whatever you do don't take a sip of wine. You'll end up snorting it up your nose. It burns, trust me.
The introduction was great - having kids myself I know how hard it is to find a pen when I need it. I doubt my daughter would stare at me, she'd be putting her own painting on the wall. (or just painting the wall)
For a guest actor, Kate Hewlett did a great job. I completely believed that those two are related... It turns out that she actually is David Hewlett's (McKay's) sister. When Carter makes fun of their Canadian 'Sorry' she was serious!
Aside from the whole destroying the universe all over again issue, the setup served to highlight McKay's character flaws. He's so brisk most of the time that I forget that he's actually friends with his team. Seeing him talk to Sheppard almost seemed out of place - we just don't see him do that very often.
I'm thinking that they decided to really bring out the characters in Atlantis for this season. Weir was sent on a mind trip, Ronon had his fight to the death, Sheppard was tortured til he looked like Ronald Reagan, Rodney was emotionally abused... Who's next?
Ninety-five percent of the time, the two McKays were edited together very well. Given how condescending McKay is, It was great to get some dirt on him. On the few shots that were edited to show both McKay's together the effects processing was a little weak. That was only time that it bugged me. I think they blended very well because many of the other shots with other characters included the over the shoulder/angled tricks that are used to make one actor look like two.
I poked around on imdb a bit and discovered that David wrote and directed a film called A Dog's Breakfast - get this, it has Kate, Christopher Judge (Teal'c), Rachel Luttrel (Tayla) and Paul McGillion (Beckett) in it!
Thumbs up on this episode, just avoid sipping your drink at the wrong time!

A definite and hysterical episode!! At first, after reading the promos for this one, I thought it was going to be a stand alone, by-itself episode. But I liked that it had real world reprocussions (Meredith drains their ZPM! Whoops!).
Having the Hewletts play bro and sis on Atlantis was a great touch as well; especially when she punched him in the arm after she found out he blew up a solar system (It wasn't inhabited!!).
A great, great character ep! I loved it!

Yes, the writers have finally decided to give the fans what they've been screaming for - characterization! It was great to see Rodney's, oops, sorry, Meredith's relationship with his estranged sister. And Kate Hewlett was great - I hope they bring her back - but I am looking forward to "A Dog's Breakfast".
Can't wait for the rest of season 3!

I really liked this episode as well. I would have put money on Rodney #2 helping them out with their zpm problem. Since he said that his universe had more than enough power for two way trips to earth I was figuring that maybe they found one on a planet that the team had yet to go to and as a parting gift he left them a note on where to find it.
Oh well, at least they have a way around it with the stargate network they are deploying to solve this dilemma.

Great episode except for the picky Sci-fi geek in me. In every other single parallel dimension episode of Stargate, they use the Entropic Cascade plot device. So that if there is two versions of the same character the alternate starts to die. But not here...I mean, Rod was just about ready to go to Earth and live out the rest of his life with no worries before they tried to send him home.

Meredith! I never saw that coming, and who the hell would name their son such a stupid name? Maybe it's a Canadian thing. This episode was great simply because of David and Kate Hewlett. You can tell these are real-life siblings, they jsut played off each other so well, especially with the little spats. The plot itself was kind of boring; a different take on a story that's been done to death on SG-1. However, just watching the way Jenny was so flabbergasted by all the tech and aliens just made for a lot of fun. I’ve definitely enjoyed the characterization this season; now, if they would only do more with Teyla. She's the last of the team in need of some real development; they haven’t really done much with the character since season one.

McKay and Mrs. Miller was a great episode!! It was hilarious. Sam's reaction to Jeannie calling Rodney "Meredith" was HILARIOUS!!! When Rodney comes upon the team laughing in the mess hall and them joking with him about the trouble he had in school. I don't think I've ever seen Ronin laugh. And when the AU Rodney came and he was sooo polite and not egocentrical you could tell "our" Rodney had a problem with it.
I was wondering about the Entropic Cascade too, but maybe it doesn't happen in the Pegasus Galaxy.
I like how the team told Meredith ...excuse me Rodney of his AU self's short comings though I think they were making some of the stuff up. Still, their Rodney is their Rodney. He has his flaws like everyone else does.
Next I hope they focus on Teyla's character because it hasn't really been developed since the ep where she finds out there's like Wraith DNA in her. Now what's this about her having the hots for one of the Marine's that John mentioned at the end of M and MM? LOL. Interesting.
