Homer: Marge, you being a cop makes you the man, which makes me the woman, and I have no interest in that, besides occasionally wearing the underwear, which, as we discussed, is strictly a "comfort" thing.

This episode begins with Marge and Homer attending an outdoor symphony. On the way back home, Homer warns Marge to be careful since the streets are dangerous, especially for "upper lower middle class types." He tells Marge not to trust anyone, but of course he fails to take his own advice and gets swindled by Snake with a game of three-card monty. Marge exposes Snake's cheating, and he takes off running. Since no one will chase him, Marge takes after him and corners him in an alley. When he pulls a knife on her, her instincts kick in and she smacks him with a garbage can lid, knocking him out cold.

This new feeling of empowerment causes Marge to find ways to spice up her mundane life. She rides her shopping cart down the grocery aisle (which then crashes and disappears into a giant cheese wheel), and dives under the garage door before it closes on her. Marge finally decides she wants to become a cop, and she excels at the training, even though she climbs the wall on the obstacle course rather than just going through the door, and while shooting at fake human targets she misses both the baby and the blind man.

Unfortunately for Marge, her friends and constituents begin to feel uncomfortable around her now that she's a cop. Even worse, Homer has no respect for her, and the tension culminates in Marge arresting him after he parks across three handicap spaces so he can run into the store and buy beer for some teenagers across the street. Back home over a game of poker, Homer confides in his pals: "Boy, when Marge first told me she was going to the police academy, I thought it'd be fun and exciting, you know, like that movie, Spaceballs. But instead it's been painful and disturbing like that movie, Police Academy."

Little does Homer know, his friend Herman is running a counterfeit jeans ring out of his garage (excuse me, his "carhole"). When Homer stumbles in on the operation, Herman pulls a gun on him and says, "not so fast." Homer obeys and continues moving toward the door, this time more slowly. Marge arrives and saves Homer from Herman, who ends up foiled by his own shoddy merchandise when the jeans tear and he falls from a rope tied to the treehouse.

Great moments:

  • Bart (to Marge): "I never pictured you as any kind of authority figure before."
  • Homer puts pepper spray on his food: "Mmmm, incapacitating."
  • Homer putting police tape around Flander's home to trick him into thinking his family was murdered
  • Homer calling Marge his "little piglet."
  • Nelson, Grandpa and Maggie popping up like the fake human targets when Marge is trying to find Herman. Also, Marge shooting Flander's Halloween decoration

Something to notice: In Wiggum's final scene, he has black hair instead of blue.
