The Onion's AV Club always does a good job of coming up with pop culture lists that have a good sense of a medium's history, not just listing things to generate controversy. For instance, they won't say that The White Stripes were better than The Beatles just to see what kind of pissed-off response they're going to get. This list from last week, about the game shows they'd love to see return to the air, is no exception. Not only do they include the old favorites like Match Game, TattleTales, and To Tell the Truth, but a couple of obscure ones, like Hot Potato, Go and Second Chance (which was a forerunner to Press Your Luck). All of the items are accomapnied by video clips from YouTube, so you can get a good feeling for each show. My favorite obscure show on the list was Whew!, where a contestant had to traverse a "gauntlet of villains" in the bonus game. It was a set-sized nightmare that was more show than game. The clip reminded me that I was transfixed by this show as an 8-year-old. But I hadn't quite gotten into baseball yet, so my taste was questionable at the time.
Anyway, which games shows do you want to be revived? Let me know in the comments.

"To Tell the Truth" was really a panel show rather than a game show in the traditional sense. One of my favourites was "What's My Line" (based on seeing it on GSN's late night for a while ) just for the sheer erudition of the host, John Daly, and the panelists including Bennett Cerf and Dorothy Kilgallen. You couldn't do that sort of show today with that sort of panel.
I confess that when they showed Game Show Marathon this summer, my favourite retro show was "Beat The Clock" just because those stunts looked like such fun.

It means shows that are wanted to be reshowed or remaken?

A few of those shows had revivals in the 90's, (Match Game, To Tell The Truth) but were hugely unsuccessful.
Name That Tune is a great format I'd love to see return to the tube.. along with Wipeout.. and Sale of the Century.
For now, there are a number of new game shows in the pipeline. 1 vs. 100 (hosted by Bob Saget), the new Jimmy Kimmel vehicle, and TWO new Merv Griffin/King World game shows should hold me over until GSN gets the repeat rights to more classics.

what about 64k pyramid? some of these shows i never heard of, and whew? who wants to see that these days?
the only shows that would cut it these days needs to have a celebrity factor in em
name that tune, that was great to!

For years, I've been wondering if that game Whew! was real or some sort of a dream that I had when I was kid. I remember it being a lot creepier, but this was fun to see again.

There is a New Joker's Wild Remake in the works already.
The AV Club seems to have missed the Win lose or draw update (Whammy).
I'd love to see a remake or update of High Rollers, Sale of the Century, or Name That Tune (Without the cheesy band.) I never really enjoyed the d-list celebrity game shows like win lose or draw... reviving those would probably involve more screentime for Kathy Griffin and Andy Dick, and thats a bad thing.

Scott RC - "Whammy" was a revival of the "Press Your Luck" format, not "Win Lose or Draw".
GT - Sony tried to revive "Pyramid" a couple of years ago, with some minor rule changes and Donny Osmond as the poor-man's replacement for Dick Clark. I think it lasted two seasons in syndication.
Given what's happened to daytime television over the last 10 years, I don't know how well the traditional 30-minute game show would do in that daypart. (Sure, "Who Wants to be a Millionaire" did well, but for every Millionaire, there are 3 "Weakest Link"s. And I agree with one of the previous comments that for a gam show to be a ratings success in prime time, there has to be either a play-at-home or celebrity component. (The exception being "Deal or No Deal", which just has that 'televised trainwreck' quality to it.)
All that said, I would love to see proper revivals of the following shows:
Pyramid (with the rules restored to the original Dick Clark version - 7 clues per category, 30 seconds, etc.)
Match Game (again, true to the original version - played more for comedy than for competition, booze flowing freely...)
Remote Control (MTV's first game show, and the really the only one to marry the channel's mission to its concept successfully; introduced Colin Quinn and Adam Sandler to an unsuspecting public)
Password (It's been off the air since 1989, so it's due for a revival; it has the required celebrity component; it's been a popular format for decades...now, all we have to do is get past the "Password Host Curse" thing...)
Blockbusters (I just have a soft spot for this show)

game shows Id like to see revived are these (and not necessarily in any particular order)
Card Sharks- Played like the perry or eubanks/raffety version and not that terrible 2001 revival version. maybe add a twist to the main game of card sharks having a wild card like wheel of fortune does but called it an extra change card meaning you earn 4 changes of the money cards instead of three meaning you can change a card twice.
Super Password (maybe call it extreme password) have where contestants are playing to $1,000 to win the game and have the puzzles being worth these amounts
1st puzzle solved $200
2nd puzzle solved $400
3rd puzzle solved $600
4th puzzle solved $1,000 and then in alphabetics start it out at $20,000 and up it $5,000 for each time its not won.
High Rollers- I would definity love to see this show come back as far as I know there isnt a game show that has mainly dice on tv today too bad my create games haven't made it yet.
Concentration- NBC owns the rights to this and they haven't revived this yet. try it as a 5 night stunt like they did with Deal Or No Deal and what they are going to do with Identity.
Blockbusters- this is another show that needs to come back. played more like bill cullen version though with the family pair.
Wipeout- i only saw this show once but its a blast and it needs to come back
Trivia Trap- another short lived game show that is fun and it should be played more like the first version of the show but instead of juniors vs seniors have it three of a kind just like hot potato
Hot Potato- I loved watching the smoke blow out and think this show needs to come back.
press your luck- I know they did whammy but i like the set up of the board on the original press your luck compared to whammy. I wouldnt mind though if they had the bank thing like they did on whammy
Russian Roulette- one of the best game shows I ever seen on GSN. great host great game and a blast to watch. I wonder what would happen if this were brought back into primetime .
Greed- this was a fun show and I didn't like the fact that fox cancelled consider it was one of the best shows they've had in a friday time slot. I wish that NBC would revive this and (a dream of mine here let me host it or at least a pilot episode)
Bumper Stumpers- this was a great game show solving clues on license plates this game was a blast to watch
Jackpot- 15 people solving riddles and have them play for 4-5 nights. have this show on twice a week and then put concentration on after it or before it.
Tic Tac Dough- fun game show that needs to come back. how about facing that dragon this could be a fun daytime game show to have back on.
Redo the revival of Chain Reaction- here is how I would have loved to see it go down have the first puzzle each word worth $100 except the word with a star by it be worth $200 and have round two worth $200 and double word worth $400. first team to get $3,000 wins the game and goes on to play bonus chain for up to $20,000. in bonus chain first word is given and the first letter of the next seven words and you have up to ten letters. every time you use a letter it cost you $2,000.
Sale Of The Century- this would be a great show to have come back. quiz show and buying prices for only $9 how exciting this show was.
Match Game- i can't believe this show hasn't came back on whether it be comedy central which would be a good place for this show or on daytime or primetime on CBS, NBC or ABC.
$1,000,000 Chance Of A Lifetime- this would be a fun show to have back on. in case anyone wonder this show was like scrabble meets wheel of fortune. that was a whole lot of money in 1986 and not even bad now.
Go- this game was a huge rush to watch and it should get brought back but this time no celebrities except maybe a once in a while celebrities playing for charity but not a bunch.
Remote Control- one of the most exciting game shows on MTV.
Singled Out- Im not the hugest fan of dating shows but this one was very interesting and exciting to watch.
Pyramid ( could call this the $1,000,000 Pyramid) having the first round playing for $50,000 and the second round if that same contestant gets back to the bonus round again they go for $100,000 fastest time comes back in a tournament to play for an additional 1 million dollars) highest score at the end of the day returns and plays up to 7 times)
Dream House- although i never saw this show ive played the bonus round on flashgames2. people playing for a dream house would be exciting to watch in primetime and i would even sign up to be on that game show.
The Chair- this is another show i never got to see but would love to either see it come back or find someone who has episodes of this show.
these are many great gameshows I would love to see revived
