Everyone - including us - reported that one of the many changes happening at Saturday Night Live this fall would be Tina Fey and Amy Poehler being replaced on Weekend Update (Fey because of her role on 30 Rock, Poehler because Lorne Michaels wanted a change). But now comes word - from Poehler herself - that she is still going to be an anchor on Weekend Update. It's just that she's going to be paired with a new partner.
The more interesting thing is that she tells TV Guide's Michael Ausiello (scroll down) that she doesn't know who she will be partnered with yet. It was reported last week that the new WU anchor would be Jason Sudeikis. Hmmm...

Memo to Lorne Michaels: Hey, can you just give us the skinny on the who, what and where of the new SNL season, rather than having us get it in bits in pieces? It makes for a easier time.

Imagine it's 1982 and Sid Caesar is still trying to keep a creaky "Your Show of Shows" going after 32 years on the air. That's what it's like watching Lorne Michaels try to keep SNL hip and relevant.

Amy is great. Not only can she act, she is funny too. To many changes will hurt the show. Amy is funny and good at any show she does. Keep up the great job Amy. Love your neighbors at home in MASS>!

Amy and Tina just really got this great hip vibe and rhythm going together, replacing Jimmy Fallon MUCH more easily than i thought it would be... we all wondered how it would survive the loss of Chevy Chase at the helm, then Kevin Nealon, to name a few... the reason Lorne HAS been able to keep SNL hip and relevant over the years is because he has NEVER lost sight of the fact that it's an ENSEMBLE show, and everyone can be replaced, to an extent. It's always been tough to say goodbye to the true 'greats' like the original cast--they were the toughest for me to lose...lol... but we've seen such tremendous times emerge.. the Phil Hartman, Kevin Nealon days...to Molly Shannon... Wiil Ferrell...Mike Meyers, Dana Carvey... somehow, the show survives, because true fans look forward to watching the show evolve into what it will be, and watching our 'children' grow up and leave the next. Lorne Michaels is simply one of the most brilliant, prolific men in comedic television, keeping the show timely and edge enough to hold our interest ANOTHER 32 years.....

You people do realize that the SNL Weekend Update is not news right?????? The article refers to them as "anchors" . This whole topic is stupid. That is not news......just the liberal slant on everything as usual.

Amy as the solo anchor. Like Katie Couric, could be some laughs there. Or pair Amy with the talented Maya Rudolph.

Umm, the show hs been stinking so bad that I don't really care WHO is going to do the news. Yes, the show has gotten to be pretty awful in the past (remember Victoria Jackson?), but this show has been in a slump for a few years now, and there's competition that has never been there before. Mad TV used to be terrible, but now it has that daring, creative edge with some ultra talented staff. If SNL doesn't find some good writers and really step up their game, I may not be the only one just waiting until the next Presidential debates to tune in and see what they have to say.

Im a long time SNL watcher and fan- I also used to work at NBC in the mid 80's and have been on the SNL set a few times. I remember being on the set in 85 or 86 one day when Madonna was the guest host and watched them rehearse. These days the funniest duo on SNL (I cant remember their names) but they are a guy and girl and they do a skit where they are boyfriend and girlfriend and the girl says barely anything and just gives the guy dirty looks when he talks to her --he prefaces all his comments to her with "babe" -- these two are a total friggin scream together and they should be featured a lot more. I think the female also is the one who does the Drew Barrymore impression and it is the funniest most right on impression Ive seen -- this girl is fantastic and should be given much more to do on the show in my opinion.
Weekend update should be with the heavyset black guy - he's also very good - give him a chance - he'd be great with Amy. JD - New York

Mark, you idiot, we know it's not a real newscast, and referring to them as "anchors" has nothing to do with a "liberal slant." They are "anchors" because they sit at the news desk and are not field reporters. How in the world is using correct terminology a liberal slant? Fake news, real news, it doesn't make a difference. Please don't speak on behalf of the rest of us educated Republicans -- we don't want or need your ignorant comments.

I more or less agree with CAT in No. 7 above, but I think the show has had fewer bankable starts the couple of seasons than any previous time that I can remember.
Also, I think it's interesting that "Studio 60" is going to focus on efforts to rekindle a show that's past its prime. (I don't think that was accidental.)

Amy is VERY funny. I lover her-especially her Katelyn character..."Hey, Rick! Rick! Rick!"
I agree she is a little ackward at the "news" desk but does well-I even thought Seth Meyers would be good to take Fey's spot. He and Amy do well with their "Spyglass" skits! But I could see Jason too and yes Mark, #6 , we know it isn't "real" news. This IS an article about SNL, we wouldn't be here if we couldn't read. Please don't take EVERYTHING so literal!

I really miss Chris Kattan, by far the funniest and most versatile character they have had in a long time and why doesn't Fred Armisen have more exposure ? Miss Jimmy Fallon and will really miss Horatio Sanz. We get used to these greats and then they leave, make a few lukewarm movies and then ????? Rachel Dratch is my least favorite. No humor and a screeching, get on your nerves voice. Glad to see she's gone. There was a period in the 80's (Eddie Murphy) when for 5 or more years, it was dumb, droll and boring.

I think Seth Meyers would be PERFECT! for the position along side Amy Pohler, he's TOTALLY funny and i too agree they do a really good job doing the spyglass skit--to the person who said the heavy set black guy i think his name is keenan, um, i couldnt see him doing it, i think his comedy is way too childish still he seems exactly the same as he did when i was a kid watching "all that" and "keenan and kel show" on nickelodeon and thats NOT a compliment now that we're both adults, lol.

SNL HAS SUCKED FOR SOMETIME NOW. I was there at the beginning,Geroge Carlin was the 1st to host. The show was cutting edge. Over the years its became so soft & boring. Only a handful of people on the show have real talent & the musical guest they get are aimed for the 3-8 year old crowd. & to be a guest-host doesn't take much either so I've left what has become a very simple-minded show to the simple-minded.....

Will Ferell is by fare one of the funniest people alive, who do you think is funny? Carrottop? Saturday night live losing PHIL HARTMAN, BRILLIANT, WILL FERELL BRILLIANT, AND CHRIST KATTAN has really hurt the show, but according to PEPPA, sal,t and, he is not funny. Please comment on something you know about, Will Ferell is brilliant. Tina Fey and Amy are horrible, that is just the truth. But ,maybe you like carrotop.
