Six different writers at Salon have chosen the TV shows that should be cancelled. Most of the shows they pick aren't really surprises: Larry King Live, Nancy Grace, The O.C, The L Word. But I'm surprised they listed 24 and The Closer.
We talk a lot here about the shows we don't like, the shows that should go away, the shows that never should have made it on the air at all (not to mention contests predicting which new shows that simply won't last). Here are the six shows I think should be cancelled (in no particular order):
Larry King Live
Nancy Grace
American Dad
ER
Jerry Spinger
one or two of the CSI shows
What shows would you pick?

Nancy Grace. She is not only a horrible journalist, but a horrible human being. Nothing will excuse the way she treated Elizabeth Smart. You expect a congressman or crook (are they different?) to be ambushed like that on live TV. Instead, she did it to a former kidnapping victim. Hey Nancy, wanna pick on Jill Carroll, or any of the Iran hostages? No ethics, no class, no viewership from me. If I were the Smarts I would have filed a lawsuit and a complaint with the FCC.
While they're at it, fire her producer. They didn't just "find" the footage from several years ago at a moment's notice... The entire event was pre-planned and executed with the precision of a bigfoot eating a donkey. Boo, hiss, boycott Nancy Grace.

I second the firing of Nancy Grace. Not only is she obnoxiously repitive -- "With us, Jean Casarez from Court TV, Jean Casarez, what do you think, Jean..." -- but she's so often WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG.

God I hate Nancy Grace. She's such an arrogant, presumptuous woman. The way she treated Elizabeth Smart? Despicable. The girl was telling her to stop, looking at someone off-camera like 'Can you believe she won't stop,' and Grace just barreled along. Every day the blonde witch stays on air is a day too long.

ER. If we didn't already have the phrase "jumping the shark," it would have by now been replaced with "dropping the helicopter." This show was terrible when I quit watching it two years ago, and I imagine it's far worse now.

Any show on MTV geez are those bad....Also 30 Days or should it be called 30 Days of Editing by the Left Wing...Lucky Louie as well, HBO gets rid of one of the best shows they have in Deadwood and possibly The Wire also but put on this crap. While youre at it just cancel every show on network TV...When you see the quality of show that is put on HBO, Showtime, FX, and Sci-Fi, the networks just look second rate and bland.

Good God, Jerry Springer is still contaminating the airwaves? I'd cancel him and his sickening shows in the blink of an eye.

The War at Home needs to just go away and take Michael Rappaports career with it. The show is a third or fourth rate Married with Children wannabe that tries way too hard to be clever. Its good that FOX cancelled arrested development to make way for that crap.

Dear TV Gods,
Please feel free to cancel:
1. The "chick-flick-esque" Ghost Whisperer,
2. 7th Heaven (... having currently surpassed 9 lives),
3. American Idol (for turning such a large section of our country into mindless talentshow worshipping zombies),
4. Bones (just because I'm so sick of the genre),
5. Numb3rs (... because, like I said, I'm so sick of the genre),
6. CSI: Miami (because David Caruso is such a ridiculous character AND because I'm so sick of the genre),
... and finally ...
7. America's Funniest Videos (Yes, it's still on, can you believe it?!)

Gordy, how on earth can you put House on your list?
I usually try not to jump all over peoples opinions, because everyone is entitled to their own, however I'm going to have to dispute that one. House is one of the best shows currently on the air.
And now for my shows that should be cancelled:
1. The War At Home (wasn't this show canceled already?)
2. 7th Heaven (again, this show should have ended when it said it was, if not long before)
3. The O.C
4. The horrible onslaught of ridiculous talent reality shows. American Idol was bad enough, but now every major network is getting their own. ENOUGH already!

Here's what should be on air, and nothing else(not counting talk shows, "news" shows or morning shows):
On NBC:
-Earl, The Office, Scrubs.
CSI:
-Two and a Half Men and How I Met Your Mother. Please God stop the crime dramas.
FOX:
-House, 24(even though I dont watch these shows regularly...have to catch up on DVD), Family Guy
The WB:
-This channel should not exist. I am a bit excited about Smallville's coming season though, even if the show has been bad for the last few seasons.
UPN:
-Everybody Hates Chris.
FX:
-30 Days, The Shield, Rescue Me.
ABC:
-Grey's, Lost(even though season 2 was mediocre).
Others:
-Battlestar Galactica, Deadwood, The Sopranos, Aqua Teen, Entourage, Dog Bites Man(is it cancelled yet?), South Park, The Wire.

Any and all reality shows. I am even willing to give up Project Runway if it means the others go.
CSI original - banging the boss is just tacky
I agree on both Nancy and Greta, as hard as it is to believe Connie Chung has shown more class than these two.
Dateline and their rigged Predator series.
