(S03E11) Only two episodes left this season and there's going to be a lot of fall-out. A heads up right now though, if you haven't seen the episode yet, you probably want to stop reading this because the episode it self was a lot of build-up but the end was well... whoa. All I can is say that something is wrong if Leary doesn't walk off stage with that Emmy in a couple weeks.
As I said, a lot of this episode was build-up from stuff that we already knew about. Tommy and Sheila are still looking into moving in together. Sheila even bought the house. Franco finally made a deal with Richie about seeing his sister. It was actually a really good scene. Franco showed the guy some respect and it paid off. Why was the probie still around though? Didn't he transfer for good in last week's episode?
Anywho, moving on. Sean and Maggie got banned from a church and Sean was pretty angry because it was Maggie's fault. So he broke up with her. Now that I didn't see coming. The whole thing with Tommy's father was good but it was total filler. I'm glad he moved in with Lou's Uncle Red though. Red was a great character in that other episode. Oh and speaking of Lou, he slept with a nun. But that seems about par for him right now as he continues to reinvent his life.
So that stuff was the whole episode but the last few minutes was where it all culminated. First we had Jerry. He's still seeing the nurse from his wife's home. They finally got around to having sex, and between all the physical activity and the Viagras he popped, Jerry had a heart attack. Even worse, Carline (I think that was her name), wouldn't call 911 because she's an illegal. So she just left Jerry on the floor. What a horrible thing to do.
Then there was Johnny. No sense in beating around the bush. He was on a stake-out with his partner and Johnny took three bullets in the back. He's dead. I can only imagine how this will play out. It'll certainly force Janet back in Tommy's direction and that will mess up his thing with Sheila and the new house. It's going to get messy.
Best Quotes:
Lou (commenting on how nail salons are everywhere): "Christ, you go to the movies, take a piss, come back, Korean nail salon!"
Carline (to Jerry): "You know for a man that looks like a garden gnome, you got a lot of demands."

Tommy told the LT at the other house the probie was gay so they rejected his transfer - I like you and want to see you do well - try a little harder

Great, great episode, but did they just kill off two characters?? Btw, Probie's transfer did not happen because Tommy told the dept. he was transferring to that Probie was gay and a 'coward'. So that didn't happen.
Lou had some great lines again. "What can I say, he speaks retard." "Bring it on Jesus!".
One thing has bothered me though...the whole Franco's daughter storyline. They have just completely ignored that.

Awesome episode! Funny as hell in the beginning, Sean and Maggie were great, and at the end two shockers :(
Don't like how this will go though... The first thing I thought when Johnny was shot was "poor Sheila" (heh). Tommy will get back with Janet, he or Lou will probably fill the footsteps of the chief (who I hope is not dead, although it didn't look good)... And this will crush Sheila which is my favorite character to be honest.

Has anyone else noticed that the last 5 minutes of every episode is probably the best. The show is great all the way through, but you get this little "bonus" in the last 5 minutes. It is a double edge sword though, because you have to wait a whole week to see where this little gem in the last minutes of the show will take you. Can't wait to see how last night's gem plays out.

Immediately after the episode I went to the fx site for the first 4 minutes of next week. I am going to miss this show over the next 9 months.
Can Janet just go away. Please.

i could be imagining things but didnt the cenes from the next episode' say that two were taken but only one will die? if thats the case (and again, i might be making this up) i think that johnny will die and the chief will be alive, but no longer be able to work and lou will take over as captian (tommy wants him to stay and it might be the only way it will work).
the kid will be johnny's but janet will tell tommy its his (not sure how that can happen, dna tests aren't really accurate inside families).
the show ended on such a down note i didnt feel as giddy as i usually do after an episode of rescue me.

Everyone is hung up on the last five minutes and not remembering the first five. That dude in the wheelchair with the computer voice made me laugh so much I nearly pissed myself.

excellent episode but I hate the way that Jamaican lady is being portrayed. First, she's the all wise and caring, mystical Black woman, then she's riding the garden gnome and leaving him for dead when his ticker blows. And her accent is so over the top...she's Jafakin', not Jamaican, although it seems like she was encouraged to talk like that.

For me, it's absolutely the best show on television. It's driven by character rather than story, although the arcs are never boring. And each episode is filled with little, almost throwaway moments that deepen the impact. Just doesn't get better than this. Sopranos has the rep, but this one actually delivers each and every week.

The quote that cracked us up last night was Gavin to the captain: "Mary Tyler Moore and Eartha Kitt, I would need a blind fold, 4 Viagra's, and a strap on to do either one of them."
This was a very well written episode with lots of great one-liners in it. It just keeps getting better and better. I have to say at the end the first person I thought of too was Shelia.

Johnny is not going to die but the chief will, he is all used up- no more story line there. If Johnny goes, there will be no adversary between Tommy and Janet. Tommy needs to be free not tied down to Janet. Better story lines when he is away from her.

the guy with the wheelchair was hilarious!
does anyone remember the exact quote from when tommy got him out of the apt?
something like:
“I $hit my pants!”
“Oh, I’m sorry”
“It’s ok, that’s how I always do it.”
classic!

I think the chief dies -- Lou takes his place (and ends up staying), Franco takes Lou's place. Maybe it's wishful thinking, but it would keep the gang together.
I also think Johnny dies.

I think Johnny dies which would lead Jannet back to Tommy and that would make Sheila go into psyco-mode again.. I dont think the chief dies but think he'll be pretty messed up so they have to get a new chief, which i think will be Lou.. Franco takes Lou's place, they get a new probie and so "probie" will stay too

Yeah, I can name one bad thing about the show, same as the other poster. C'mon...Franco's daughter is just up and gone and the story line is neatly tucked away? She's basically kidnapped and he goes on just chasing women again after being portrayed as the new nice guy daddy? Uh...no emotional damage there...no pursuit to make it right...they just let the lil girl go off to someone new? And the rape thing with Tommy and the ex still eats at me. Her character and the writers justified rape all too fast and easily. Regardless, still the best, most intense show on television.

OK Enough of the bitching about the rape. If you don't get it then STOP WATCHING THE SHOW!!!! Tommy and Janet even though they deserve each other for the way they always hurt one another will think nothing of what they do to the other. Rape to us, Yes, but to them NO! So stop whining! This show was never for those with weak hearts.
Franco daughter Keela or whatever her name is was taken by the rich woman and Franco can do nothing about it or else he will end up in jail for kidnapping her in the first place. That story line is up in the air until the rich bitch brings her back to NYC which will happen knowing how this show operates.
Johnny dies and Janet demands that Tommy is a father to her devil child. Wish it isn't going to happen but it will because things with Sheila are becoming too "smooth" or "nice" so we need Johnny to die to jinx things for Sheila. And yes she is going to become one mad psycho-bitch and make Tommy life a living hell. Anyone think that Sheila will do something as daring as maybe make Janet lose the baby?
The wheelchair guy at the beginning was really funny. Does anyone remember what he called the firemen when they were standing around trying to figure out how to get him out? Dickheads?
"Jafaking" is an illegal which is why she left him for dead. 911 will want to know who called and why she left involving cops, then INS.
