(S02E01) For all of us who have been jonesing for new Weeds (how can we not start off the season with a pot joke?) , we were able to get our fix tonight, as season two opened exactly where the finale left off, with Soccer-mom turned pot dealer Nancy Botwin finally succumbing to the loneliness that has plagued her since her husbands death & allowing herself to spend the night with new beau Peter, only to discover he is an agent for the DEA...
Naturally, Nancy freaks out, as most drug dealers do when confronted with the cops; even if they haven't slept with them. She all but jumps out of bed the next morning & rushes out of his house.

Meanwhile, back at the Botwin household, Uncle Andy is still trying to scheme his way into rabbinnical school to avoid the draft, slinking up to a sexy Israeli admissions director, while Silas & his extremely hot deaf girlfriend Megan are up to all sorts of sinful teenage activities, including getting caught en flagrante by young gangsta-rapper Shane (who called the incident "an accident...an amazing accident!"), and parading around sans underwear at the family breakfast table. It's painfully obvious that Nancy's parenting skills are not really improving so much from season one...

As Nancy ponders what to do about Peter, Conrad doesn't mince words with his advice. As usual, Conrad puts the smack of reality upside the head of the naive Nancy, telling her what kind of a mindfield she is walking into. Their meeting ends on shaky terms, with Sanjay offering the helpful suggestion that she should perhaps sleep with more travel agents instead of cops. I guess it works for some girls.

The title of the episode comes from an incident involving Celia & a Latino housekeeper that T-bones her car while Celia once scolds Isabelle for her stubborn refusal to embrace anorexia. In the wake of the accident, Celia decides to run for City Council, challenging the normally-unopposed Doug, who is furious that he now actually has to campaign against someone.

The episode ends as Nancy is trying desperately to restore some sense of normalcy to her household, unsuccessfully attempting to wrangle the family together for dinner. She is interrupted by a phone call informing her that her fake bakery (the Fakery) has burned down, providing the perfect excuse for Andy to suggest they use the insurance money to expand their business, by becoming full-fledged marijuana growers.

All in all, not a bad season opener. While a little lighter on the laughs than I would have liked, it did plant the seeds (hehe) for some potentially intriguing plot threads to develop over the season. One cool thing about this season is that the theme song 'Little Boxes' will sung by a different artist each episode, which on the premiere just happened to be a fellow by the name Elvis Costello. Now that's good TV...
