5. Men in Trees
I would have written this show off immediately if I hadn't been assigned to preview the pilot. A city girl ends up stranded in rural Alaska? Sounds like Northern Exposure, doesn't it? I suppose it is similar, but maybe that's why I think it's so good. I enjoyed the Anne Heche character and the supporting cast has closets full of skeletons. Plus.... gorgeous scenery!

4. New episodes of Lost Okay, okay. Last season wasn't as good as the first one, but that's not a bad thing. It was just different. It had to be for the story to move forward. But I am incredibly excited about season three because the show is taking a turn into unexplored territory. Kate, Jack, and Sawyer have all been kidnapped by The Others?!? I can't wait to see where they're taken, what happens to them, and who takes the lead at the beach camp (Hurley? Sayid?).

3. New episodes of Battlestar Galactica The new president has seriously effed-up. Now the people on the planet are under the control of the cylons? And Galactica has jumped away? This show is doing the same thing Lost is doing. After two seasons of character build-up and tension between the good guys and the bad guys, it is turning a corner to a new storyline. I look forward to the fresh stories from the writers as both series delve deeper into their stories.

2. New episodes of The Office I'm having some serious Jim withdrawals this summer and reruns just aren't cutting it. There is a little part of me that is worried that the show jumped the shark in the season finale when Jim kissed Pam, but I have faith that the writers will create a cleverly uncomfortable storyline for them. I don't expect Pam to cancel her wedding for Jim and, if she does cancel, it will be for some other reason. Plus, Jenna Fischer wrote on her blog that John Krasinski is hotter than ever!

1. Studio 60 on Sunset Strip This is going to be my comfort food. I find it comforting to have Aaron Sorkin writing for television again. It's also comforting to see Matthew Perry and Bradley Whitford together on television. I am a sucker for television shows about television and am an even bigger sucker for Sorkin, so this is a big winner in my book. Sorkin's signature witty, quick dialogue is a breath of fresh air from shows like CSI, Without a Trace, Desperate Housewives and Grey's Anatomy... all shows that are big on storyline but flat on dialogue.
