One of the problems with performance-based shows is that as the group of contestants gets smaller the amount of filler gets higher. Unfortunately since most of what we have seen of the "rockers" has been onstage, watching them cavort drunkenly is like watching strangers. Last season we got a bit more of the dynamics of the group. This season's crowd is both more seasoned and less fun. Even their letting off of steam looks like work.Tonight they do the stripped down versions of songs. While I love the addition of the string quartet it seems to throw off some of the stronger competitors.
Zayra took the chance to sing an original song. Her outfit is understated tonight and she sings in Spanish and plays guitar. The song sounds a bit like the theme to a telenovella. She's a little better in her native tongue but the song only proves it's time to give this lovely the hook.
Magni, Starman -- He dresses in a white suit and does a very commanding performance. He's still a bit bland for me but he's getting a little bit of personality.
Patrice, Message In A Bottle -- It's not that she's bad, it's never that. But the arrangement is a bit flabby and her performance is a bit weak. I still think she just doesn't know how to manage a larger venue and get a big crowd rocking.
Lukas, Hero -- A priest's collar? Oh how punk. It goes so well with the fingerless gloves. He plays guitar and sings very slowly. Is it just me or is he especially twitchy this week? His facial expressions are all over the place, smiles, grimaces, eyebrow raises. It only increases his demented imp look but I still think he rocks.
Storm, I Will Survive -- She sings a stripped down version while in a men's suit. Very torchy and as usual so theatrical. She seems to have been taking singing lessons from Jill, aiming for the howl over the precision vibrato. I'll never tire of looking at her but this wasn't my favorite song of hers and the band gives her quite the spanking.
Toby, Solsbury Hill -- Toby plays with Gilby. He sings a bit fast starting off but overall I think this is one of his stronger performances.
Ryan, In The Air Tonight -- Frankly his faux intensity just wears on me. It doesn't matter how much you strain if your heart isn't showing. Cute coat though. Why does the band love him so much? If this guy wins this whole thing I am going to be bummed.
Dilana, Cat's In The Cradle -- She does a harder version of this soft song, making it a bit more rock but still very heartfelt. Dilana and Lukas are still outpacing the competition but the race seems to be getting closer and closer. The two obvious frontrunners are going to have to step it up a notch.
The bottom three are Zayra, Patrice and Ryan, Swap out Storm for Zayra and you've got my bottom three. And I'd give the encore to Toby.

The clown who sang Solsbury Hill utterly mangled the lyrics! I counted five separate times when he seemed to just be making something up that sounded vaguely like the song...and given that he was performing a truncated version with one verse removed, that gave him an error rate of about 20%. Nobody in Supernova seemed to notice or care, but I bet they'd be less sanguine if he was getting one-fifth of *their* lyrics wrong.

I was kind of surprised about the feedback that Storm got on her performance. I can see that it's not the kind of song that Supernova would perform, but i think her presence is so powerful; and this song was another chance to show how incredible her voice is.What does everyone else think? She and Dilana are my favorite women performers , Dilana's talent seems to be never ending, her voice has such a unique and rocker raspiness to it , her passion alwasy seems drilled into all her performances, and I definitley can see her fronting the band. I do have to disagree with Deidre on one thing, and please, don't eat me alive all you Lucas fans..I realy don't get his appeal and I don't think I would ever listen to their music if he were to be chosen as their front man. He just doesn't do it for me, and I really feel like he butchered an amazing Chad Croeger song. Aagain, before people start insuilting me and going nuts, b/c he obviosuly has a fanbase..it;s just my opinon. While I can see how Ryan's intensity may turn some off, and question its legitimacy, I truly believe that he's just being himself, and I have to say that in these last few perfomances, he seems to be the underdog that has found his way and could go further than manny expected him to.I agree that Zayra's eorfomrance in her native tongue was much better than her usual performances, but i see her going solo. Toby's performance was cool, I thought he had a good perfoamcne w/ Gilby and added the extra flare w/ the bongo's. While I adore him, I dunno if he is the man for the job. Magni was solid and has really grown on me throughout the show, but the guys don't seem to feel he fits...they defintiely compliemted him lots but it seems like there's an underlying "but you're not for us" at the end of their sentences. Patrice..I guess she's talented, but I think she should be next to pack her bags..just rubs me the wrong way, doesn't seem to have what it takes.I was waiting for her to kick up the energy which never came Well, that's my shpeel..what does everyone else think?

It was a good show tonight. I was amazed that the band hated Storm singing "I will survive". I loved and so did my friend watching with me. I wonder if that is a song you already need to like.
As always I loved Dilana, she's the best. And my other favs Toby, Lukas, Ryan and Storm did great. Patrice is just blah, nothing she sings ever makes her stand out.And Magni is a good singer, but he just doesn't do it for me. And Zayra was better tonight.

Lukas was awesome as usual. I'm getting tired of Dilana, cause she's pretty forgettable after a while, there's nothing sexy about her. I mean a man's gotta be a man, and a woman's gotta be a woman, but she's really androgynous (spelling?) to me.
Patrice is a totaly lesbo, she should just come out on the show.
ryan is DAMN FOOL, who should be stabbed on stage, so we can see some REAL intensity from this wannabe, lameass punk.
Storm is HOTTTTTT, but she might do better solo along with Zayra.
Toby looks like those constantly drunk dumbass frat boys, what you see is what you get, there's nothing deep about him. so he actually may do well fronting the 3 stooges.
Magni? dude that guy is overconfident, he gives the impression that he's better than everone else, and he doesnt really need this, he's very popular back home, to all 800 of his fans!
thats my 2 cents, seacrest out!

Tonight's show should end up with another TWO being eliminated..preferable Zayra and either Ryan or Patrice....or Mr Iceland, whatever his name is...how can they even consider him for a long term commitment to the band is beyond me..but whatever...
DILANA absolutely rocked...I loved her version of CATS IN THE CRADLE..I wasn't a big fan of hers at the start of the series, as she seemed a bit 'overdone' in terms of TRYING to look the part with all the piercings and tattoos and the hair, but shove all that aside and you find a real talent there....
ZAYRA is a joke...I am still shaking my head over her so called performance of JENNIE a few weeks ago....I felt EMBARASSED FOR HER...that's sad...anyone tuning in to the show for the first time only to catch her 'singing' would be disgusted, or terribly amused....

Ryan is good, but I have a hard time seeing Jeff Goldbloom fronting this band. That's exactly who I see everytime he hits the stage.

Last nights show was decent enough and Dilana was, to me, the best. Anyone who says she has zero sex appeal is just nuts, she just oozes sex appeal. A woman does not need to be a woman, she needs to be who she is. As for Lukas he just seems like he doesn't want to be there and comes off as arrogant. As for Storm she did a ok job considering what she got to sing. If the band hates disco don't put a disco song in the list. The rest were fine good but not a single great performance.

Patrice is the most forgettable performer on the show. Her version last night was boring and it seemed as if she herself is ready to go home. Where was the energy? Where was the passion? I was expecting her to walk off stage in the middle of the performance because it was clear she had better things to do. The song was in a key too low for her and she sounded pitchy the entire way through. If Supernova is looking for a front man (or woman) with enough personality to stand up with the likes of Tommy Lee, Patrice definitely is not it. It's time for her to go.

We all know Dilana's gonna get it, so we should just quit torturing everyone else and end it, and send Ryan to my house.

Dilana, hands down again. Can't see anyone else fronting this band.
Said it before and I'll say it again... WHO THE HELL CHOOSES THESE PITIFUL SONGS?!?!?
Gotta luv douchebag Gilby Clark's comments to Zayra to rock it out a bit more. Ummm Gilby, weren't they supposed to mellow it out a little tonight and go the 'semi' acoustic route?
Gilby Clark - how he considers himself a true 'rockstar' is as funny as Lukas' caterpillar eyebrows. I can't stand either of 'em!

Don't be so sure that Dilana's a lock. Yeah, she's a star in her own right, but if the band isn't sold on having a Stevie Nicks/Janice Joplin sound, they just might pass.

I have to agree with JR about Gilby, who is this guy anyway?? He played with Guns N Roses?? When??? Not wehn they were big time, maybe after words when people stopped listening to them. Hey now that's something to be proud of, playing guitar for an over done , washed out band. Anyway I think Dilana rocks, and if she, and only she fronts that band, would I ever even consider buying a cd by them. I love Storm, but she needs to be a solo artist. She has a beautiful voice and it should not be waisted on SuperNova. Not saying that Dilana is a waiste, but she has the look, and the power to make that band into something, whereas I don't think Storm could. Ryan I think could also front the band, but again I loved him behind the Baby Grand, and I think he should stay there as well. Dilana seems to be the only one there who really fits the bill. Of course if she too, ended up solo, I would run out and buy that cd right away. I think Super Nova should look really carefully at who they choose, it could make the difference between a washed out, overdone, no ones, with a new lead singer or a huge hit.

Lucas is too wierd and does not have the sexy rocker persona that's needed to front this band. I think that Dilana is the best fit, she is a true rocker, and her uniqueness would be an added benefit to the band. Storm is beautiful and sultry and talented, and with this exposure she will be a star on her own. Why is Patrice still here? Zayra is being kept around to model her costumes every week, but in the end will be so gone.

Tonie, if memory serves, Gilby joined Guns N Roses after Izzy Stradlin left. So that would have put them in the band just after the Use Your Illusion albums were recorded. They were still pretty damn big at that point and I believe headlined a tour with Metallica and Motorhead. So Gilby was playing in a band that Metallica was opening for. You may not have heard of him back then, but he does have some legit rock cred.

I think Gilby's comments were a tip that they'll keep Zayra around for another week. She'll be in bottom three, but I can see Patrice getting the hatchet this week. I kept wondering why I don't get anything from her performances, and it finally struck me last night. She shows absolutely no emotion. She keeps that little half-smile pasted on her face no matter what the lyrics are, no matter what is said to her. Last night she looked like she was trying not to break out into a gigantic grin during a song about loneliness.
And please, Lukas, quit the tired tongue & finger thing! Put that & the goth look away & come up with something original. Please.

interesting your bottom 3 had Ryan and mine in KC had Toby at the end of the show. Maybe they actually adjust it for the time zones. By the way a friend of mine has seen this show in a hotel in Kuwait. I still love Z but she will alas be leaving soon.

Oh Lordy!!! DILANA is awesome. I think she would be a great frontman for the band. I don't know how old she is but she looks more in line with the rest of the guys - agewise. I think she'd be on the same page as the rest of them. Their personalities seem to click and let's face it...they arent babies, they've been around the block a few times and won't take kindly to the "young" immature performers i.e. Lucas - he's good on his own...and will probably be fine. The rest of the rockers are good but not for this band. Dilana fits right in and if they are smart they will choose her. I would pay to see this bunch with her in the front of them. LOVE THIS SHOW and to Mr. Keith Dick who had nothing nice to say about the show in a post above or below me...well who is asking you for your opinion on a show that you don't think is worth watching. Mr. Dick! enough said.
