Weeds new ad strategy: scratch n' sniff pot flier

You smell that? It's called creativity.
In an effort to drum up even more "buzz" for the second season of Weeds (it premieres this Monday night), Showtime placed an ad in the August 24 issue of Rolling Stone. What a great idea. Advertisements! This ad was special though. Similar to the hundreds of fragrance ads offering whiffs of Paris Hilton's latest vomit inducing stench, the Weeds ad had a scent strip of it's own.
Guess what it smelled like?
I suppose all we have to do now is wait for the news to report on the idiot teenager who got a hold of four or five of the ads, rolled them up into a big fattie, and got sick from inhaling all the ink fumes. Oh and if you want to see what the ad looks like, I placed it after the jump. Just don't bother scratching your computer screen. I tried already.

I happened to stumble upon this show a few days after it premiered and I was pleasantly surprised. I just loved it! I talked a few people from work to watch it and the next week I caught everyone wanting to discuss the craziness that had taken place on last nights episode of Weeds.
This show has very creative and adult storylines, which are quite refreshing to see. Showtime always goes off the limb to bring awesome shows to the limelight. I can’t wait to catch their new show Dexter, starring previous Six Feet Under Star Michael C. Hall.
Don’t judge this show just because it’s entitled Weeds. It truly has a great cast, fun surprises and creative characters that will make you smile and wanting more.

" I think we have enough problem's with keeping our kid's away from drug's....Why would Showtime make a T.V. series steering toward pot. Even if the show has nothing to do with this drug the fact that a kid rolled the ad's (scatch-n-sniff)and tried to smoke them tell's it all!"

Please, please, please tell me that comment #5 is some kind of post-modern commentary... with an underlying message along the lines of "If this is how you think apostrophes work, you can't afford to kill any brain cells smoking pot."

Maybe your children shouldn't be watching Showtime @ 10PM, if AT ALL? Maybe if you can't control your children you should control your cable box or just your subscription?
