In a big "huh --?" moment for me, it turns out the Sci Fi Channel summer series Eureka -- about a town of geniuses planted in the Pacific Northwest by the government for dramatic effect -- was originally conceived as an animated series. That's according to what series star Colin Ferguson told SCI FI's own newswire, anyway. Obviously, he and other cast members are relieved the producers didn't stick with that concept.I can't picture it. Maybe the focus would have been on the genius-town kids getting into all kinds of scrapes and 'splodin' things. Or maybe it would have been American cable's first one hour dramatic primetime animated series. Probably something closer to the former.

Count me among Colin "Opposite of Sex" Ferguson and the rest of the cast -- this show is great and I'm not even a huge Sci Fi fan.

Thank you.
Here is my quote from the pilot review...
"This show is awful. The storylines are ridiculous even for Sci-Fi standards the characters are cartoonish...crazy mechanic, military girl, mad scientist, evil temptress, bored audience, etc."

My only suprise is the show is not yet cancelled.

After the third episode aired, I could see this show growing on me. It was less cartoonish, although it could be subdued even more, but that doesn't mean I'm not liking it.

I too can't picture this show as animated. It doesn't seem to fit. I'm happy that they chose to do it as it is now. I am addicted to this show and have been since the pilot. I just like the quirky characters. Overall the show has a nice campy feel to it that just amuses me.
My favorite character is Henry. :)

Comic book characters & 'superheroes' must be completely lost on you. How scientifically *realistic* is Spider-Man or The Incredible Hulk? Or "wormhole weapons" for that matter?! That doesn't mean that the superhero comics/stories & shows like Farscape aren't great, just because details are a little ridiculous. If that were the case, Stan Lee, Marvel, & DC Comics wouldn't be names that EVERYONE knows.
You should read the Hitchiker's Trilogy. Science fiction doesn't have to be all technically accurate & when science fiction & comedy meet in the right combination, it is a wonderful thing... just like EUReKA!
Thank GOD I haven't totally lost my inner child so that I can keep appreciating imaginative stories like these. Life would be truly unsatisfying without them.
