(S01E04) Eureka has seen fit to provide their sheriff with the coolest gun rack known to man. Not only is it loaded with some fat jack, it'll probably squash anyone standing under it. You know how guys hate not having the remote? Well Jo won't give carter the remote to the uber gun rack. He's only scored 53% on his third attempt to pass the weapons test. Ouch.
Spencer's having movie night and he's invited Taggart, Fargo and Vincent. This is Eureka, so he's pulling the latest alien invasion flick down by hacking a satellite. The neighbors complain, so Jack sends Jo (a little revenge for the remote issue) over to check it out. She sticks around and catches the show. Once everyone takes off, we fade out just as Spencer's getting what looks like a classic alien light show.
A funding committee congress-critter has come to town to determine his recommendation for funding Global Dynamics. Stark's trying to keep it together but he's feeling the stress. Fargo comes into the office and freaks out as he finds that one of the more important experiments has gone haywire.
Back in town, Allison buys Jack and Jo some coffee and asks them to keep things quiet while the congress-critter is visiting. Henry shows up saying that somethings happened to Spencer as he's never missed work and he's unreachable. Our fearless trio goes off to look for Spencer. All of his stuff is around, so they start checking around the woods near his trailer.
As they're wondering around, we see Taggart and Fargo waaay up in a tree with some huge binoculars. Spence appears o'naturale, sitting in the middle of some uh, crop circles. Jo's been acting a bit high strung, but when she whispers 'you're not alone' we know something is definitely up. Meanwhile, Jack's informed that our tree hugging Fargo has disappeared.
The congress-critter's is staying over at our mysterious Beverly's bed and breakfast. They get it on and afterward he talking to Bev about some consortium business. It seems that some artifact has been moved off to section five and he wants to see the thing.
Jack heads over to Global Dynamics to get some answers. He brushes off Allison's objections and heads for the research area. We get some hints about Allison's feelings when we see her smiling as Jack is walking away from her. The monkey demo goes bad, and afterward the congressman presses Stark to let him access section five. Once the scientist let it slip that it's a satellite directing the not so spiffy paranoia ray, it's pretty obvious what's happened. Everyone who was at the movie has become very paranoid about an alien invasion thanks to the misdirected satellite.
Jack returns to his office, has a little heart to heart with Jo. They make up... and Then Jo knocks him silly with her giant gun. Now that Jo's gone nutty, Jack has Allison meet him over to Bev's to get Spencer and hopefully collect the others. Team crazy has headed out to pick up the congressman instead. They snatch him and head off in Taggarts SUV from hell.
Jack and Allison find Stark knocked out on the side of the road. Allison gives him the low down and Stark calls in his bad boys when he finds out that Team crazy is probably going to dissect the key to his funding. When they arrive, Jack goes hero and runs in while they super solders are ignoring him. (Apparently they can't run very fast with all that gear on...)
In the end Jack manages to talk down the Team crazy and bring everyone out safe. Henry rigs up something to normalize everyone. Stark wraps things up with the congress-critter, but not before Jack catches the his statement about 'what he saw in there yesterday'.
The episode winds it up with Jack learning all his weapons and a bit of the sort of bonding that only occurs over the worlds weirdest arsenal of weaponry.
Eureka cranked out another good episode, but this one let the cat out of the bag a little early. If they had left out the satellite comment, I think it would have been waaaay more interesting to see it wrap up. Oh, I gotta ask... Why the heck does Taggart have a chair with leg clamps AND a bone saw in the same room? My favorite bits had to be seeing Fargo up in the tree and a very emotional Taggart.

This show is a hoot to watch, and you're right, they let the cat out of the bag a bit early, but still seeing the Looney Tunes Squad getting ready to cut up a congressman was worth it. Another great episode.
Mysterious Beverly, alien artifacts, and Section 5. A humorous show with intrigue.
And didn't that congressman die in Season 5 (Between Two Fires) of Stargate SG-1 (So he really is an alien! Wait, Elizabeth Weir's ex-husband!) And what's with the Genii triple barreled shotgun in that spiffy-ass gun rack?

I loved the smack at CSI. Jo doing the scene with only a flashlight and when asked she intones that is the rule. Henry, bless his heart, just turns on the lights!
Henry is the MacGyver of Eureka sans duct tape (so far, that is).

I thought it was a great episode, except for the presence of Taggert, who continues to bug with his for-shit Aussie accent...

Another clue to Allison's feelings is she practically threw herself at Jack when he returned safely from Taggart's Den.
I thought the best line of the episode was whan Allison asked Jack if the Looney Tunes Squad was alright. His responce "Completely bugnuts, (aside to soldierguy) restraints now!" or something very similar.

it's only a matter of time before Allison and Jack become more than friends. At least I hope so. Great episode. Anybody else reminded of Stallone in Demolition Man when they watch Jack in Eureka episodes?

And yeah, as noted in comment #4, that bit about the restraints now! was highly amusing. Hah!

Um, okay, not sure what happened to my comment. Was writing it in word and guess I pased the wrong stuff. Um. Duh. I'm akake.
Anyway,
Wow. Good question. I didn’t think of the bone saw and leg clamps just happening to be in the same room thing. I just shrugged it off. Eureka and all…
You are right though, holding that bit about the satellite until later probably would have given the episode a better kick.
Aah, how these characters amuse me. Add in some quirky alien plot charm and yeah, good stuff!
