As if Floyd "Testosterone" Landis doesn't have enough problems, now he's in the middle of another morning show war between The Today Show and Good Morning America.
Landis made the rounds on all the networks yesterday with his wife, defending himself against allegations that he cheated to win this year's Tour de France. He had an agreement that he would do an interview with GMA host Robin Roberts live, and then the interview he taped earlier with The Today Show would be shown after the live interview aired on GMA. But Today got sneaky and aired their interview before GMA did theirs. And that ticked off both GMA and Landis.
Someone at NBC said "I find it interesting in light of Mr. Landis' situation that he would question anyone's integrity right now." Ouch.
Landis will appear on Jay Leno's show tonight to answer more questions.

It's funny... When I read the posts on this site, I usually don't read the by-line. If I find it interesting or scandalous, I'll usually scroll back up to see who I'll be addressing in the comments. But I knew it was you who wrote this, Bob, when I read that last line. "Jay Leno's show" is like a notarized signature of a Bob Sassone Joint.

I known Floyd since he first moved here from PA, and I spoke to him recently about this scandal. He is innocent of all charges. He told me back in 1997 that he "would" be on Lance Armstrongs racing team, and then go on the win the Tour de France. I KNEW this would happen. He has accomplished every goal he has set, and is an amazing athlete. He has too much professional pride, and integrity to do anything illegal. Everyone loves a scandal more than they do a HERO. Floyd is a HERO, enough said!

I agree with the last poster. Everything Ive read about Floyd's upbringing and his nature points to not guilty. Extra Testosterone wont help a bike racer in a one day stage race...its ridiculous. This is a crime and Floyd is the victim. Someone has messed this up and Floyd is totally defenseless and panicking right now. That is why the excuses are flying out of his mouth. He has so much to lose in this case in terms of future earnings and credibility.

Uhm, what are you saying? That the results were faked? That someone strapped him down and injected the drugs into his buttocks against his will? Give me a break. The druggee is guilty, and needs to be punished because of it. No second chances.

Dear Uhm, What many people who have a reasonable understanding of this process are saying is that it has severe flaws. First of all, if the test for exogenous testosterone was solid, it would be part of the standard testing regimen and it is not. So Floyd has now been accused directly thru the press and further details revealed only AFTER he tried to give first thoughts of rational explanations. Have you stopped to think for a second how an innocent man would react to such charges? I'll tell you, exactly the same. From the moment the "A" sample came back with an issue, all fairness in this process was thrown out the window. In this scenario, Landis is also considered guilty until he proves himself innocent. It's worth noting that a recent report instigated by the UCI, was very damning of this same French lab that tested bot of Landis' samples. Does anyone else find it strange that they don't even test the samples in different locations given the gravity of the situation. The UCI, WADA and the French lab in question would have all faced credibility issues had the second sample come back negative. Landis gave 8 samples during the tour. Let's test the other samples for exogonous testosterone as well. If he was using something to mask testosterone use, it should show up in this test and given that the director of the French lab seems to have more confidence in this test than most other scientists in the world, this should answer things once and for all.

The reason the test for synthetic testosterone is not routinely used on all samples is because it is expensive. The testers, quite reasonably, only use it when the initial testosterone to epitestosterone ratio test indicates the possibility of doping. The synthetic testosterone test can then eliminate the possibility that the unusual ratio found in the initial test can be explained by something other than doping. I hope Floyd is exonerated--for his sake and for cycling's sake--but the results of these two tests in combination make it very difficult to explain away the results.

You Americans knock me out. Landis has cheated and yet he won't own up to it.
It's the same with the softwood lumber issue between Canada and USA. Canada was awarded certain things by NAFTA and because you Americans didn't like someone else beating you , you protested and NAFTA changed the initial award.
I hope the French don't back down.
