Why did TLC get rid of Paige Davis? Trading Spaces, which is past its prime anyway, really stinks without a host. When I flipped on the television yesterday afternoon, it was on. So I watched. The poor designers and carpenters are tasked with not only working on one room but also 'hosting' their room, which means questioning the contestants about their tastes. Paige was good for that because she was removed from the designers, so the people on the show would open up and tell her their real feelings about room designs. And the end is terrible without someone to show off the room! It's just plain awkward as the homeowners wander around the room with hidden cameras watching them. It's uncomfortable in a not-funny way.Does anybody even watch Trading Spaces anymore?

I stopped watching when Paige left, too. She helped keep the show balanced. The newer incarnation hasn't been compelling at all.

I agree! It used to be my favorite show. I loved Paige. When she left, the fun of the show left, too.
It's very boring without her.

If my memory is correct, I thought I read that Paige wanted to leave the show. If she did want to leave or if the show's producers wanted her to leave, I really wished she/they hadn't.I agree with you Anna, that without Paige, the show really "stinks".I get embarrassed when the designers and carpenters ask the contestants about their tastes. Sometimes, I feel the designers and carpenters are also uncomfortable themselves in the asking. Well, thinking about what you have said & how I feel about the show, yes, it is past it's prime.... And to answer your question, I know a whole lotta folks who no longer watch Trading Spaces & I'm one of them.

I still watch it. Yes, it is different without the host, but I do like the "what are your thoughts after 2 weeks" segment at the end. That is one thing that I thought was missing before, the bit for "what do you really think".

I agree, this show needs a host.It has lost its original charm, its a generic copy of its former self. I cant watch anymore. its a shame all that talent wasted on that unbalanced format.

The British show on which "Trading Spaces" was based, "Changing Rooms", was never as good when their host Carol Smillie left and was replaced by one of the designers, Laurence Llewllyn-Bowen. Don't get me wrong, Laurence had a lot of personality, but he was better in small, episode long, doses. I think what shows like these need are hosts that the average viewer can idnetify with - a non-designer type civilian - rather than someone in the business. Carol Smillie and Paige Davis were no better in terms of knowledge or ability than us, the viewers.

Photo's of Paige appearing topless also surfaced around the time she left/was fired. I think she later then posed for a "gent's" magazine.

TLC has made some very good changes by getting rid of some of the bad designers they were going with. Having one carpenter for each room is a good idea, too. Getting back to most of the original designers (they do need to get Vern back, though)is helping, and revisiting the homeowners after 2 weeks is a nice touch. But if they could just make nice and ask Paige Davis to come back, it would make all of those good changes even better. She kept the flow to the show and allowed the homeowners to say what they really felt. It's really time for her return. Heck - if the producers of Dallas could orchestrate Patrick Duffy's return, TLC can get Paige Davis back.

Didn't Paige leave when she was auditioning for a Broadway show? I know she was in several shows before doing Trading Spaces.
I do agree that the 2 weeks afer is a good touch but I think the show just drifts without a host. The designers have an agenda of their own and it is painful to watch. I gave it a partial season after Paige left and have not been back.

I LOVE TRADING SPACES BETTER WITH PAIGE OFF. I REALLY GOT TIRED OF HER DANCING AROUND AND SHOWING HER BUTT.
NOW THERE IS MORE TIME FOR THE DESIGNERS AND CARPENTERS WHO REALLY DO THE WORK TO LISTEN TO THEIR IDEAS. NOW I DON'T SWITCH OVER WHEN I GOT TIRED OF LISTENING TO HER.
