Ah, shark week. Sharks are to the Discovery Channel what Regis is to ABC, always worth trotting out one more go-around. Our good friends at Divester have weighed in on Shark Week, praising the use of actual science by Discovery (and check out this cool photo contest while you're visiting Divester). They make a damn good point. Every time I seem to turn on one of the alleged educational cable channels they seem to be running some silly ghost-chaser, psychic, or UFO "documentary" without any serious rigorous examination. Things may be changing a little, shows like Penn & Teller's Bullshit, and Mythbusters (which also runs on Discovery) have been successful the past few years. Shows as different American Chopper and Modern Marvels prove at least some of cable's audience is interested in more than crop circles -- interested rather in the natural world, science, and how real things actually work.

Dear Mr. Canfield,
Since you express an interest in the "natural world" and "science" and how "real things actually work" you might want to look over the research that has been published in scientific journals regarding crop circles--before you conclude that you speak with authority regarding this particular phenomenon. See the BLT Research Team's web-site: www.bltresearch.com, and check under "Published Papers."
Pranks with planks is an extraordinarily simplistic, incorrect, explanation--apparently consistent, however. with both the mental equipment and emotional needs of many impassioned, self-designated keepers of the public wisdom. You probably think those trade towers fell into their own "footprints" by themselves, too??? And that those tons and tons of concrete became pulverized with no help from explosives? And that the firemen and police just thought they heard explosions? And that "pulling" building #7 was something that could be achieved in a few hours?
I don't know what really happened on 9/11....and I sure wouldn't be making statements publicly indicating I do know unless I had done a LOT of research. Which I am very near certain you have NOT done regarding crop circles.

The only explosives used in 9/11 were the fuel-loaded jets the were used as missiles and flown into them. Skyscrapers are designed to collapse into their footprints to minimize damage to the surrounding area, when they sustain massive damage such as, say, an earthquake or a terrorist attack would cause.
Crops circles are pranks :

Convinced?
Didn't think so.

I enjoyed Shark week as well. There are not many shows devoted to my kind, and those that are tend to be a little pro-human for me. I prefer seeing more shark. Although some of the shows on shark week weren't interesting, a lot of the shows were great and some of the footage was spectacular. Air Shark had the best footage of great whites breaching I've ever seen.
