TV Guide has an interview with American Idol finalist Elliott Yamin. People have been wondering why four of the five finalists on the show got record deals with 19 Entertainment, the producers/company behind Idol, but not Yamin.
"I'm not upset. Not at all. There's no need for anyone to be outraged. What's the big hurry? What's the big rush? The folks who've signed to this point, they're with 19. I will not be affiliated with 19 after the tour is over...I'm going to be able to make the music I want to make; that's all I have to say."
He also explains that after Idol was over, he got 40 to 50 offers for free dental work! And he might just take one up on their offer.

Elliott WILL be a success HIS way, and I am so happy. He will not be stuck in Clive Davis' pop machine, just to fade into obscurity in a year. Elliott will collaborate with the right people for his sound, and will be a future Grammy winner doing it his way.

I'm glad he's going on his own...it was obvious that 19 was trying to force him to sing the song's they wanted him to sing during the competition. He knows what he's can do & doens't want to water down his talents. GOOD for you ELLIOTT!!!

We are glad American Idol found this amazing talent that gave us the opportunity to hear him! He had just as much voter support as Taylor and Katherine. Needless to say, he has a "ton" of fans out here in TV land, and you would be wise (TV GUIDE) to keep us informed of him. We know he will get deals and can't wait to hear him sing and go to his concerts!

I'm a big Elliot Yamin fan. Thanks for the article.
The thing is, only contestants who are signed to Clive Davis' record labels can sign deals, announce deals or even publicly discuss offers before their contracts end with American Idol. Even if Elliott has the best deal in history waiting for him, he cannot discuss it now because of the terms of the American Idol contract. I believe that Elliott is mellow because he knows that something great is waiting for him after his American Idol contract ends.
