USA Network is so proud of its new comedy Psych that it has decided to order up three more episodes for its freshman season. Including the 90-minute pilot that would make a total of 15 episodes for the series. In addition, AOL Entertainment News reports that the show is expected to be picked up for a second season in the near future.
The premiere of Psych drew 6.1 million viewers, a record for a cable series debut this year. Since then it has retained most of the audience of its lead-in program Monk. That series, which stars Tony Shalhoub as a compulsively obsessive detective, is averaging about four million viewers a week. Psych is averaging about 3.9 million per week.
Psych, which stars James Roday as a detective who dupes the police and the public into believing his keen observation skills are actually psychic powers, will most likely follow the split-season pattern of Monk. This means that new shows will run until month's end and then return with new episodes back in January.

The show has an interesting concept and can be funny. But, I keep thinking it could be better. Would like to see Dule' Hill's part be more than just frowning and tag along. Not sure why the Police Chief is pregnant--how will the story line change after she delivers? Have been an attentive Monk viewer since it began. Not sure this has the same staying power.

I love this show. It reminds me of what TV used to be all about, entertainment. James Roday and Dule Hill are hilarious and don't even get me started on my man Corbin. Steve Franks? Genius. Pure Genius. As for why the chief is pregnant, I imagine it's because when a man and woman fall in love...

I have become hooked on this show. I like the silliness of it all especially the one-liners. I agree with Allen that Dule Hill should get more face time. Dule's an outstanding actor with much versatility. He shouldn't be used simply as a prop for James Roday, whom I do enjoy also. They need to pare down on the cast a bit too. I like the uptight Lassiter and Corbin as Shawn's father, but the ladies, I'm not sure if they are necessary in every episode. Anyhow, I hope the show sticks around for awhile. Pairing it with "Monk" was a good idea. I also like how a couple of episodes appeared on NBC. :)
