Rock Star: Supernova: Week 5 Performances

patrice (S02E09) This week's song choices made it tough to see who should be in this band and who shouldn't. While I respect the need to mix up the catalog, for the most part this week's selections made little sense.

Patrice, Higher Ground --Tommy Lee plays drums. She probably couldn't go wrong with the energy of Tommy Lee behind her. I may find him personally tiresome but no one plays harder drums. Overall though she could have rocked just a bit harder.

Josh, Santeria -- Not sure why he gave up the chance to sing Higher Ground and maybe prove he could rock instead of another softer song that he can smile his way through. It was nice but he just needs to be doing his Jack Johnson thing elsewhere.

Dilana, Can't Get Enough -- Did she raid Zayra's closet? Great performance. She can really get an audience on their feet. If any girl can front this band, it's her.

Toby, Pennyroyal Tea -- Do we have to go through the entire Nirvana catalog? Toby seems a bit more roughed up this week and goes into the audience...

Zayra, 867-5309/Jenny -- Does this girl have a sidegig at the Cheetah or what? Her space alien-meets-stripper vibe might work for some artsy band in some little club in New York but not here. Who ever thought this song could get any worse?

Magni, Clocks -- He's in great voice as always and without sunglasses we can tell that he has lovely eyes. He's so not edgy though. His icy demeanor melts a bit when Supernova tells him they are flying his family in from Iceland.

Jill, Don't You Forget About Me -- Bump and grind again from the blonde bombshell. The mic stand really shouldn't be a stripper pole at least in regards to this song and the screaming, oh the awful screaming.

Ryan, Losing My Religion -- He plays piano. Is he wearing a windbreaker? His intensity seems to be working for him more and more.

Lukas, Celebrity Skin -- I used to think this was Lukas's competition to lose. I no longer think that. In this case his arrogance works against him. For the first time, Lukas bores me.

Storm, Changes -- A very low-key rendition, she still performs like she is in a musical but she's definitely becoming one of the long-haul players.

Dana, Baba O'Riley -- The girl really does try but it's like watching your kid sister try to be a rock star. Cute and all but really, this has to stop at some point.
