Does a day go by on The View where they don't talk about something controversial? Where an argument doesn't occur? Where somebody doesn't freak out?
YouTube has the latest meltdown, from today, when Elisabeth Hasselbeck gets into an argument with Joy Behar about the 72 hour pill and pregnancy and rape and the sanctity of life. Then Barbara Walters gets into it, and displays that phony "voice of reason" tone that she so often has.
It honestly looks like Hasselbeck is going to walk off the set, or at the very least start crying or pouting. Guest host Lisa Loeb just looks really, really uncomfortable and is probably thinking, "I should have gone to Regis and Kelly."

Never truly watched this show, but Joy Behar is such a jerk. Who appointed her Queen?
Good for Elisabeth. She shouldn't be bullied by such a blowhard.

"I should have went?"
Is this bad writing, or are you implying that Hasselbeck is stupid?
P.S. Check your spelling of Elisabeth.

That is so funny! Barbra is so silly but Elizabeth is a total nut job. She should get a job at Fox News or maybe a local public access show to rant all day. She pouts and wines like a little baby where she should be so glad to have that job. Poor Lisa Loeb looks ready to run out of their, but Joy just looks at Elizabeth like shes use to her odd behavior.

Jim,
I'm certain that Bob is inferring that Lisa Loeb is thinking about Regis & Kelly. Maybe you should check your 'bad reading'.

Good for Elisabeth for speaking up and not being bullied by Barbara. Barbara should never had intevened and scolded Elisabeth for her passion and her VIEW! She would never do that to Joy or Meredith (when she was on), and certainly never did cross Star Jones. I'm sick of them treating Elisabeth like a little girl who knows nothing and SICK of Joy rolling her eyes at Elisabeth? That is not respecting Elisabeth's point of view at all. Kudos to Elisabeth for speaking her mind and not being bullied into submission. She can actually get a word in now that Star Jones has left the building! So, let her speak!!!!!

I love it when Babs say, "We need to be able to discuss these things in a rational way." No you don't. You don't need to discuss this at all. You're not that important that you HAVE to discuss this. You're not setting policy, you're not splitting the atom. Move on to the gossip column and leave the obviously inflamatory discussions to people with protest signs.

Of course Elisabeth is entitled to her opinion, and I do think Barbara may have cut her off a bit prematurely, BUT much of what she was saying was untrue and/or illogical. Earlier in the program, she said that most fertilized eggs (zygotes) successfully implant in the uterus - this is UNTRUE - and then she tried to cite universal health care as an infringement by the government upon personal rights. I think Lisa Loeb, who appears thoughtful and intelligent, was simply dismayed at the ignorance.

Elisabeth is so concerned about getting her "view" across that she is disrespectful of everyone's else's. No wonder Lisa Loeb was looking uncomfortable. She started to say something when Elisabeth shut her down with a very loud and adamant "Here me out". Her lack of respect for the guest hosts is appalling as is her overwhelming desire to voice her "view" repeatedly. She said it once and made her feelings known. She didn't have to reiterate it because someone at the table disagreed with it. Barbara was right to jump in and discipline the unruly childish behavior.

Jim,
I love your comment, but you are using "inferring" when what you really mean is "implying."
Inferring is what the reader or listener does with the info.
(Just giving you a hard time after you dissed that other person! I enjoyed your remark)

Right on Alice S. I totally agree. I suspect that Barbara disagreed with Elisabeth, but there is NO denying that she (and Joy) have zero respect for her opinion. I guess she's just supposed to sit there and look pretty.

Why is it that if you are for abortion, homosexuality, etc, that everyone jumps through hoops to make sure you have the "right" to speak your opinions? But the minute you say you are against something like that, everybody says you are not being "rational"?
I've heard lots of people being "passionate" as Elisabeth said, about being for abortion. So what right does someone have to say that Elisabeth or anyone else is being irrational when they state "passionately" that they are against the same subject? I have never cared for Barbara Walters and this just proves why.
Thanks for respecting my opinion and giving me a right to state how I feel.

Babs stopped Survivor Girl because she didn't agree with her opinion. BW chose to dress SG down for the way she presented her opinion because, in her own words she, "...rarely gives her own opinion." Brilliant strategy, but disingenuous.

My mistake, but it doesn't change the fact that the grammar is wrong.

Barbara stopped her because Elisabeth (usually spelled with a Z) was losing it. I wonder if she uses or ever has used the pill because she pretty much described how the pill works. There is a huge far right movement to get rid of the pill. Would Elisabeth consider all women who use the pill murderers? Huh, tell us Elisabeth, what do you think about the pill?
I hear enough of that conservative crap on talk radio. She needs to get a job at Fox. Let her have a meltdown there. Yes she has a conservative bent and yes, she is no good at her job. She'll be no match for Rosie

What "special circumstances" is Elisabeth talking about? Since the scenario Joy laid out seemed to be quite unsettling (reality) already as it is.

So, am I to understand that because Elisabeth is conservative, she has no place on network TV? Because that's just idiotic. You can't get a well-rounded world focus just watching/listening to one point of view. I agree with Angie a lot on this one.

I've often thought that Elizabeth is auditioning for her own show on Fox.
She is self-richeous and belligerent. The other View co-hosts have learned to state their views in a way that invites others in, and/or with humor. Hasslebeck is all about her. She creates dissention.

From a broadcasting point of view, this show is very annoying when the women talk over each other. However, when one sees fit to yell over the others, that's unacceptable. BW had every right to reign in Elisabeth.

It's too bad Barbara Walters didn't retire from The View at the same time she retired from 20/20. She reminds you of the nun in Sunday school disciplining a child for having a strong opinion on something. It should be interesting to see what she'll do to Rosie when she arrives....I'm sure the honeymoon of Rosie joining the show won't last for long

Elisabeth is so annoying. She has not learned that no matter how much "passion" you have about your views you have to respect that someone else may feel equal about their view. She rants on and on repeating her view as though repeating her view several times and being the last one to express herself will make the opposing view disappear! I think Lizzy needs to grow up a bit as she is a mother now and realize that her adolescent behavior is so annoying and very yesterday! Yes she has a right to her opinion however wrong she may be.
