Big Brother: Veto Ceremony #4

chilltown(S04E11) At the start of this episode, Janelle admits that her "big plan" is to keep Boogie in the house. Oh surprise, surprise. To all of you who think that Janelle might really be playing Will, I have only one thing to say. Ha! Perhaps the oily charms of the evil doctor are incredibly potent in person because it seems Janelle is one smitten kitten. So much so that she is throwing the whole house into turmoil.

If I had a crystal ball and could look ahead to the end of this season, I would probably say that this episode was the pivot point of the season. The trouble begins during the veto competition. The veto team includes Will, Howie, Erika, Boogie, Janelle and Diane. Janelle tells Howie they must not let Diane get the veto. After a sleepless night the teams are given a challenge that involves spelling. They also get the chance to torture the other members of the team with trick glasses, headphones and worms. In a key move, Janelle chooses to hinder Diane instead of Boogie. Boogie wins veto which means that Janelle has to make a tough decision. Boogie also cuts his foot up pretty badly by stepping on glass googles.

Janelle starts hemming and hawing about the thought of nominating Will. This makes Marcellas crazy. When the SeaSick alliance chats Janelle is caught for going after Diane during the veto competition and so the SeaSick alliance smells a rat. Of course after that Will starts working Janelle using very circular logic to sway her. What do you tell a very pretty girl to charm her? That's she's very smart, of course. That no one appreciates just how smart she is and that she can make her own decisions (provided they are the decisions he wants her to make of course).

The luxury competition is a lame tie-in to the new Will Farrell movie. It's one thing for Will to call Howie "big boy" but when Howie starts referring to himself by this name it's just disturbing. I like it better when he calls himself Jedi Howie. On Survivor luxury competitions often create big time enmity but here where you are just playing for snacks it's not quite so life and death.

The big question of the night is whether or James is ready to implement his new "revolution" against Janelle. He is so angry he can barely contain himself once he realizes that Janelle is well and truly under the spell of Dr. Botox. Janelle chooses to put Diane on the block which should be the signal for James and the shadow alliance to start their power play. Can Chilltown, a shiny duo of Los Angeles players in no way in need of money defeat an entire house based sheerly on the power of their veneered smiles or will James actually manage to swallow his anger and bitterness enough to galvanize the house?
