First Jennifer Aniston says that she would be open to a Friends reunion special, and now Courtney Cox-Arquette says that she would be open to getting the old gang back together too. Says Courtney: "I haven't gotten a call, but I wouldn't be opposed to the idea."
I wouldn't mind seeing a reunion special either, but here's what I don't want to see: 1.) the whole cast sitting around the Monica and Rachel's apartment, reminisicing about the good old days, or 2.) massive changes in what has happened to the characters: Monica and Chandler separated, Phoebe divorced, Joey now smart, etc. Just have the show be like a regular episode: well written and funny.
What do you think the reunion special should be? Maybe Monica, Rachel, Chandler, Ross, and Phoebe find out that Joey is trapped in a bad spinoff sitcom in Hollywood and decide to fly out there to convince him to come back to NYC?

Everyone flies out to California to comfort Joey after his show is cancelled.
And the humor ensues!

I may be one of the few people on Earth who never saw more than three episodes of Friends (didn't think it was all that funny to be honest), so my opinion of what a reunion should be like is of limited value. However, a general quesiton should be: Is this such a good idea? TV reunions (usually sappy one-shots) don't often live up to expectations. Look at The Brady Bunch, Dick Van Dyke, Andy Griffith, and on and on.
I don't think you can capture lightning in a bottle twice.

I would prefer it be an episode, well written, etc. And not just the actors sitting in a room talking about the good old days. I want to see where Monica, Chandler, Ross, Rachel, Joey and Phoebe are, and not how much Courtney, Jen, Matt, Matthew, Lisa, and David miss doing the show! Back in the day, Beverly Hills 90210 got me all hyped up for a reunion show, and all it was was the actors reminising about how much fun they had on the set!

Considering the last few seasons, I'd say "unlike e regular episode: well written and funny"

Maybe a huge tidal wave should bring all of them back to civilization after being stranded on the island for years....oh wait, that's the reunion show of Gilligan's Island.
I think Friends ended on an interesting classy high note and shouldn't be messed with. I don't want to know the "realities" of Rachel and Ross's relationship, that Emma has a learning disorder, that Pheobe and Mike like to swing dance or that Chandler and Monica's kids inherited the biological parents' facial features. Just let them all live on in our imaginations.

They've all become penniless so go and live in Joey's Truck which oddly is the only thing he hasn't lost.

It HAS TO BE a Thanksgiving episode and they should all visit Monica and Chandler for Thanksgiving dinner.

Shouldn't they wait until it's been off the air for more than three years? If they're all so desperate to do this, why not just bring the show back?

I think it should be about Joey's return to New York and once again to Days of Our Lives as Dr. Drake. We should catch up with the rest of the gang as Joey does. Maybe we could see Ross and Rachel's for real wedding too.

While I can't really think of a reunion movie I really liked, (Some of the Hulk TV movies were petty good and i know a few older folks who liked the Bardy Bunch specials) I have enjoyed old cast appearances on other TV shows. Cheers alumni on Frasier was usually great and George & Weezie Jefferson showing up on the Fresh Prince was cool, too. Perhaps if they could find a way to squeeze in the friends cast on some other show during sweeps, that would be a neat idea. Dollars to Donuts a Seinfeld alumni show up on Julia Dreyfuss' show sometime this season, too.

Uh that wouldn't be anything like a Friends episode. Its fans wouldn't recognize the show and they wouldn't know when to laugh. Well, maybe the studio audience can continue to assist the viewers with that intellectually challenging task.

I am really disturbed by some of these people's responses to the Friends Reunion. I love Friends and would love to see a reunion show. Definitely made in the type of a new episode...almost like a movie. I would really love to see Ross & Rachel's wedding, Chandler and Monica's babies, Phoebe & Mike's lives together, and how Joey is doing. I think the idea of Thanksgiving at Monica & Chandler's is wonderful. Definitely go with a actual episode and not a sit down and chat because friends wasn't about Jennifer, Courtney, Matt, Matthew, David, and Lisa. It was about Rachel, Monica, Joey, Chandler, Ross, and Phoebe.

I would love it, but I agree, I hate the reunion specials now where they just talk about the good old days -- why can't we get new episodes?

I would love to see it written just like a regular episode. Thanksgiving definitely and perhaps we all find out that Monica is pregnant. Perhaps make it 3 or 4 years later. The kids aged. Rachel and Ross marry. As long as they stick with writing it just like the regular episode AND write it as well as all the other episodes were, I would not think they could go wrong.

this comment is for nicomm (3rd message): If you've only watched about 3 eps of friends, then why do you feel you have to comment on it here?
i personally think a reunion would be great, esp if its a thanksgiving one like jennifer mentioned.

Ogler, my question was about reunion shows in general, not necessarily about Friends.

I think that the only way to do a reunion special that people actually want to watch is to do something resembling an actual episode. I think a Thanksgiving episode would be the best, as it gives the gang an obvious excuse to be together again, and also remains true to the shows roots. One thing I don't want to see is to have it all be about the kids (either Monica and Chandlers or Ross and Racheals.) Most of what I want to see is the characters aging, but still remaining themselves.
