(S01E03) Tonight was the first episode of Eureka since the pilot. (By the way, you can download the pilot from SciFi for free) We come back to Eureka during the funeral of Susan and Walter Perkins. It would have been sadder to see this kid lose his parents, but I was distracted by Henry's priest outfit. Seriously, is there nothing that Henry doesn't do?
Jack's car goes a bit nutty after the funeral. The un-dead Susan Perkins appears. Henry's omni-remote appears to go crazy while exhuming the dead Susan. We meet Allisons semi-ex husband - the new research director at Global Dynamics. Some more ghost action while the boys are sleeping at Allisons house.
We come back to Jack, who's attempting to sleep in one of the jail cells. Fargo comes by and offers jack a place to stay; SARAH, the super smart house. At the house/bunker, we get one of my favorite lines of the episode: "Fargo, is that you talking like a girl?"
Back to the plot-line, Henry (Why henry all the time?) runs a scan comparing the dead Susan with the un-dead Susan. Jack and Allison chat and feel out their relationship a bit more. I wonder if this will ever go anywhere, or if they'll just keep teasing us with the possibility of these two.
We get an entertaining conversation between Jack and Stark. After Stark confides in him about what he saw, he directly asks Jack if he's sleeping with Allison. I suppose we'll see some interesting sparks flying between these two later on.
The episode wraps up wayyyyy too easily. I was glad that the un-dead Susan stood up for her unknown son. But the episode felt more like they wanted to finish up the pilot and lay out the show some more. Even so, it was pretty enjoyable.
Being the guy I am, having the fridge dispense beer instead of water was awesome. When Jack comes home and the house is angry at him... I died when he apologized to SARAH and stroked the door.

Fun episode. This is defintely keen eddie for sci fi fans. The writing is well done and I agree that they are really trying to line up some character development after the pilot. Notice how his daughter is now back on the show right at the same time he secures a place to live.

That part also killed me. I was like... oh man this show is a keeper with that ONE scene.

I agree as well. It has its cheesier boilerplate moments (that whole rebellious teen daughter plotline has got to go), but overall it's quite enjoyable. I loved the HAL/Sarah thing and the adorable nerd's fake British accent. The special effects ain't too shabby either.

Granted I saw the missed dinner coming a mile away but I did not expect him to apologize. I think we are going to learn why Fargo has not convinced anytone else to live in his prototype house.
Does it make me a big geek that I went onto the eureka site and was "shopping" in the made in eureka store? I so want that cryo kennel and the short range personality scanner!

I am glad you mentioned Keen Eddie,
because Colin Ferguson reminds me so much of Mark Valley that I went to IMDB to check if they were brothers. Even watching the second episode it drove me nuts: mannerisms, looks etc... I need to get past that, lol.
Also, one thing I dislike is when they change actors from pilot episodes (Psych did the same thing this summer season), I thought Greg Germann was pretty good as the head of the "thinktank".

I get that "Keen Eddie" vibe off Ferguson too; I'm not sure what that is... Here's hoping this lasts a little longer than Keen Eddie did, though.
Likewise, I'm also real disappointed that it looks like Greg Germann won't be in the regular series -- if you're going for "quirky" (and this thing certainly seems to be), it's hard to find someone who does quirky better than Germann...

Um, yeah, Henry really does seem to be able to do EVERYTHING! Sheesh. A true jack-of-all-trades…
I just adore the house! And that it’s Fargo’s voice makes it all the more entertaining. Hah! Too funny. Yeah, I died when he apologized to her when she was angry too. All so very entertaining! And it’s not just guys that love that beer feature! :P
And yeah, the end of the episode did seem to wrap up too easily. It had a cookie cutter feel to it tying it up with a pretty bow. Would have been interesting to see her not step up to the plate just yet, or something. Don’t know. Still funny that he cloned his wife. Duh.
And yeah, I liked Greg Germann a lot. He should still be in it!
