Denis Leary's controversial show focusing on the lives of firefighters will return for another season in the spring of 2007. Ratings for the FX show have improved this season, and there's more attention than ever being focused on the drama right now (mostly due to the now infamous "rape" episode).
The order is for 13 episodes, which might seem like a little, but this is cable, and the first three seasons of Rescue Me have been 13 episodes as well.

well there have now been two "rape" episodes, but the first one was certainly more violent (and shocking). im a huge fan and am really glad its renewed.
hopefully he doesn't kill off all the characters in the middle of season 5 like he wants to.

When considering the "rape" scene, just remember that this volatile relationship thrives on seemingly shocking tidbits. Never once does she say "NO", "STOP", or any other phrase that she wants him to leave her alone. Then to turn around and do the same thing back to him says everything. Leary is a master at making the smallest and most telling points; as for killing everyone off - why shoot a cash horse? Right now, he's got a very unusual market cornered with an inimitable show...GO DENIS!!

I would take 13 episodes that go straight threw with no re-runs compared to 22 episodes with a crapload of re-runs inbetween.

To my way of thinking, "Rescue Me" is one of the best, most realistic programs to date. Denis Leary is a genious for being able to take so many complex characters and give each of them such a different and creative story line. I am so glad that his program has been renewed for a fourth season, and I'm certain that it will be just as great as the first three. Hats off to you, Mr Leary!

I love rescue me!!!! Due to lack of money over the summer I had my cable shut off. Ofcourse they came the day they showed rescue me's first episode. Well now I have my cable back I was wondering if they would rerun the whole season 3.....or will i have to suffer and wait until it comes out on dvd in 2007?

I just love this show and all the characters in it. Kudos to Dennis Leary ! I watched the show last night, and talk about a cliffhanger!!!!! Can't wait for the next season to see how they get out of the fire. There is no way they can kill off these characters.

You know I find this funny. Funny because so many people have said that the famous season 3 episode was clearly rape, when I look at it as him having balls. I mean if you think of it, where are these rules set up that suggest that when you have spontaneous sex when you're together, that its truly any different than outside of a relationship. Fundamentally speaking its still sex and its interesting how suddenly its hands off, when how many of you had still had sex with a close ex. I wonder how many of you out there ask your spouse if they want to have sex as opposed to just going for it. I don't remember the last time I successfully asked someone if they wanted to have sexual intercourse with me, as it doesn't exactly play into the mood of it too well. And his ex wife just pushes him around so much, its like she can do no wrong but that he's a total screw up. I'll admit he needs to grow more balls, so that he doesn't try to hide his insecurities like he'd be the laughing stock of those who found out. I am definitely looking forward to the upcoming season and I hope this series goes on for years to come.
