...himself!
Keifer Sutherland says that the upcoming season of 24 will have everyone's favorite, tired hero Jack Bauer not saving the world, but saving himself, from bad guys who are hunting him around the world and want to kill him.
I think this is a fantastic idea. It would make the show more Bourne Identity and less James Bond. Meaning, more a personal story about survival than a story about bad guys trying to destroy the world. I think I'll even watch this upcoming season, even though I haven't watched any of the other seasons (not a knock against the show. I love spy/action shows, but there was always something else on).
The FOX show returns in January.

Have to disagree that the take is more Bourne than Bond. In the movies maybe, but one of the best James Bond novels is "From Russia, with Love" which is exactly this plot. I do agree it sounds like a great idea for 24. I bagged this past season halfway through, because it was so same-old same-old.

To be fair none of us has watched what he wrote about because it hasn't aired. He wasn't reviewing past seasons and he isn't reviewing the upcoming one. He is just reporting what format of the new season will be.

If there is anybody interested in seeing 24 -- they must catch this past season -- currently airing on Friday nights on Fox. Season 5 is the best its ever been and now 24 is the most nominated series at the Emmys -- it is much deserved and it has never won the best drama at the Emmys. It should win this year.
Superman Returns is a must see.

I had heard this rumor, but it about the rumored 24 movie, not the next season of the show. Dunno, that's just what I heard.
And LC... Splitting hairs a bit? :)

So what happened on FOX last night? They showed 2 hours of 24, but skipped 2 hours altogether. First, they showed 1PM-2PM, but then for the second hour went straight to 4PM-5PM. And according to TV guide information, next Friday they will pick up 5PM. So, when is FOX going to show the period between 2PM and 4PM?
I didn't have a chance to watch the original run of 24 and was thrilled when they announced that they'd repeat the entire season (instead of me having to wait for the DVD), and now they pull a stunt like that!

Ummm, didn't we know that Jack would be trying to save himself in the next season? The last scene from last season was of Jack being taken away on a ship after being kidnapped. I guess if you watched the show, the premise of the next season wouldn't be such big news.
