Despite an overall weak season of The Sopranos, it is hard to believe that Edie Falco would be overlooked. Her work, especially in the early parts of the season when dealing with Tony's injury, are the best work I've seen by any actor in quite a while.

My quick thought: how did Kevin James get a nomination over Jason Lee of 'My Name Is Earl'? I'd complain about 'My Name Is Earl' not getting nominated as well, but that's a pretty strong category already.

I dont even know where to start. For every one thing they did right (Scrubs for best comedy - it's about time) they did 5 things wrong. Two and a half men??? Kevin James? Stockard Channing?? Wasn't that show on for like, 3 episodes???
For all the talk about the "new system" giving smaller shows a chance, it's the same old network (and HBO) BS. Will and Grace up the wazoo. I'm really sick. It's like they don't even watch TV.

'The Daily Show' and 'The Colbert Report' are against each other in quite a few categories... I don't know who to root for!

And Kevin James over Jason Bateman? Where are the Lost actors?

I'm not going to harp (too much) on the lack of Arrested Development actors on this list, save Will Arnet, but come on! Michael Cera is much funnier than Jon Cryer, and I watch Two and a half men (occasionally). At least the best comedy category is stacked with some funny shows that deserve praise. But if 2.5 men wins, I will know that no one with a sense of humor votes in this thing.

And I thought that new voting system was supposed to change things. This looks like the same tired Emmy nominations that we have seen in the past.
Nostalgia nominations for shows/actors that are going off the air despite the fact that they are not near the quality they once were, like the West Wing, Sean Hayes, and Kevin James.
Too many nominations for HBO for no reason I can ever fathom. Does anyone that votes for this stuff actually watch HBO. The Comeback was a terrible show, due in no small part to Lisa Kudrow. The Sopranos did have a weak season and I don't think it deserves to be in the best drama category, but even if you want to go there, Michael Imperioli is the cast member you want to highlight? Come on now. The only HBO nomination I agree with is Jeremy Piven. And I wouldn't have minded Entourage getting the Best Comedy slot that Curb didn't deserve. I swear, if Shasta McNasty had been on HBO, Jake Busey would have an Emmy on his mantle.
And once again, as always, could someone remind the voters that there are some other networks out there. Yes, you are oh so hip by finding FX and nominating Denis Leary, but how about taking a look at the WB and Sci-Fi. Battlestar should be on the best drama list. And if you can nominate Larry freakin David for an Emmy with that one note same joke routine you have to be able to find someone somewhere on WB, UPN, Sci-Fi, etc. to give a nomination.
Some of the nominations, or non-nominations I do agree with...LOST and Desperate Housewives with no major nominations. That is how it should work. The quality of the show drops and the nominations disappear. Jamie Presley on My Name is Earl is great and I would like to see her win that category. Charlie Sheen and Jon Cryer for Two and a Half Men. That show is consistantly funny every week but just can't seem to get any publicity. Scrubs for best comedy. It continues to be great every week.

Lost: nothing really outstanding on this past season from any of the actors
Desperate Housewives: Who cares.

Hugh Laurie? Kristin Bell? Battlestar Galactica? There's a reason why I haven't watched the Emmys in years.

I am sincerely shocked that The Shield, or at the very least Forest Whitaker, did not get a single nod. I am hoping the Globes won't pass this one up. I am not sure I am liking the restructured voting method.

I still don't get the appeal of Grey's Anatomy. A lot of these nominations don't even seem to be performance-based, but made moreso because a show is catching ratings fire.

I am quite surprised to see that neither Gandolfini nor Falco got nominations, but that's a good thing since both of them have won multiple Emmys before.
No love for The Shield? No Forest Whitaker? No Battlestar Galactica? What about Deadwood? Since Denis Leary got nominated surely Ian Mcshane can get a nomination too (since both shows are running in the summer) ?
Kevin James over Jason Lee? What is up with all the Will and Grace and West Wing nominations? None of the Scrubs actors got nominated ?
Some positives: The Office and Scrubs getting nominated for best comedy, Will Arnett for best supporting actor.
I thought the Emmys would get better this year, but they seem to have gotten worse.

So basically...
Emmy's got a bunch of stuff right and a whole lot of stuff wrong. Sounds like nothing's changed.
Though I'm absolutely giddy about the 24 love. Kiefer better win this year. I mean look at his competition! Also yay for Lisa Kudrow (take that Joey!). And finally despite the AWESOMENESS of the Desperate Housewives snub, Marcia Cross deserved a nomination.
Sure I'd lament on the lack of BSG or Lauren Graham, but I never thought the Emmys would have REALLY done it. So no expectations, no dissapointment. Trust me guys, it works.

Two and a Half Men? Really? It's almost as if they need this to take over from Raymond. Its funny but it's not funnier than My Name is Earl.
Great to see some props for the actors that have slogged it out without recognition for years on their signature shows like Kevin James and Meloni. Especially the return of the 2 Malcolm in the Middle parents (rooting for Cranston on this). Itzin and Smart were great choices. But the Six Feet Under and Desperate Housewives nods for the actors were a bit much, especially for Alfre Woodard whose great and all but she wasn't that good on Desperate Housewives...relatively speakly. I mean COME ON. Alfre Woodard for COMEDY? On Desperate Housewives? Her story had no humor at all. Zilch.

Yay Stockard Channing! Maybe the networks should think twice about cancelling great, consistently funny shows like "Out of Practice" and turning them into blink-and-you-miss-it cult gems.
