In today's New York Times, Bill Carter recounts the journey the pilot for Nobody's Watching took from network reject to YouTube hit. In the article, Carter interviews co-creator Bill Lawrence (who is the genius mastermind behind my favorite show, Scrubs) who describes how the WB came very close to picking up the pilot after NBC rejected it, but turned it down after the dreaded test-screening panel thought it's "sitcom about two guys who write a sitcom and live on sitcom sets" might be too confusing. Since the video of the pilot was posted on the video site, it's been viewed over 300,000 times and has gotten very good feedback from viewers. Because of this, it's getting another look by various networks, including Comedy Central and ABC. But since NBC owns the show, it still has the first shot at it. And the show with which NBC is thinking of pairing Lawerence's baby? You guessed it -- Scrubs.

Dear God in heaven,
Please don't let that fetid, banal, limp-wristed piece of Rhino dung known as Nobody's Watching EVER get on television. True, it's no worse than Friends or According to Jim. But it's not any better either. It's slow, predictable, written-for-the-lowest-common-denominator style of writing/direction/acting landed it expressly where all shows of such substance should go: to the trash heap.
Why do people ask so little of their comedies? It's not Curb Your Enthusiasm funny or Arrested Development brilliant. Hell it's not even a good chuckle like Entourage or The Office. It's just average. Average sucks and it's even worse that it's average and it mocks other average shows. Talk about arrogance without any foundation in reality.

Some of the Best & Worst have gotten on TV and then disappeared...
Same with the "Umm" you know those guys in that DC place that seem to run things around here & the world...

As for the person that said only 100k say the 2nd part. It looks like only 100k saw the 3rd part as well. I would think this is probably because the average youtube user doesn't always see that there might be more parts of the show. I didn't realize it till checked online for more information. The ratings appear to be the same regardless of which part, which I think shows that the show is getting high ratings regardless if someone didn't watch the next part of the show. I'd like to see this show, it would be a great pairing with Scrubs which is the best show on TV and better then almost all the crap that has been out there the last 20 years. Does Nobody's Watching need tweaks? Yes. But it's entertaining.
