Wow. Just...wow.Here it is, 11:18am or so, and what does CNN have on right now? Nope, not breaking news or political coverage or news on the war in Iraq. They are rerunning the Star Jones interview from last night.
This, in a word, is vile. Why is she getting so much press? Why are the news networks treating this like it's some sort of important news story, instead of a pop culture/celeb thing? It boggles the mind that CNN would interrupt their weekday sked to show this again.

Ms. Walters remarks were the most tactful dressing down I have EVER seen. Regardless of which side of the controversy one is more partial to; Ms. Walters was very well spoken, and her 'view' was quite clear!

I never did understand why Star Jones was ever selected to be a panelist in the first place.
Then, after the first year of her trying her best to dominate every conversation, why did ABC keep her on?
I would love to be a fly on the wall, backstge, so to speak, and hear the cat fights going on before and after each show.
Believe it, when you tangle with Barbara Walters you're taking on the queen of the sharks; she's deadly.

I think ABC AND BARBARA stabbed Star in the back. Star has never been one of my favorites, but I don't see what she did wrong. They wanted her to lie about why she wouldn't be back (they didn't want to look like the bad guy), but Star told the truth instead. That ticked them and Barbara off. I wish Star well. Barbara used to be a fav of mine but not anymore. With friends like that..............

I'm with Critter. I watched that interview, and though I dislike Star and The View in general and I think Star talked like a Stepford robot throughout the interview, I believed most of what she said. Star didn't make this ugly and scandalous and blow this up for the media to consume, ABC and Barbara Walters did. Had Barbara just dealt with Star's early announcement with class instead of with catty passive aggression, we wouldn't be discussing it right now. I know Barbara Walters was once a great journalist, but the past few decades has only seen her swooning over the least interesting celebrities ever. She thinks her shit doesn't stink, but it so does.

Star should have announced early, but let the others know in advance...
Star told Larry King last night she does not yet have to all back on her law degree....I doubt she will get a show of anykind unless it is on one of the stations that are overly PC for diversity...on her color rather than what she contributes to the show. I think they could replace Star on the view with an Hispanic...does not have to be a black woman.

CNN catering to celebrity obsessed viewing public. The ratings yesterday must have been huge for them to replay the interview for the umpteenth time! Sickening!

What the hell is happening to CNN? First the Angelina Jolie interview, now this. I mean, wow. Maybe CNN DOES stand for Celebrity News Network?

When The View announced that Rose O'Donnell was replacing Meredith Viera, I decided to watch Martha Stewart instead. Personally, I cannot stand that Rosie O'Donnell. If Barbara Walters thinks Star Jones was difficult, just wait until Miss Rosie gets her nose out of joint about something. Martha Stewart and Rachel Ray here I come!

Star was also on The "Today" show this morning for nearly 45 minutes. On the Friday before July 4th, short of Bush visiting Graceland with the Japanese PM, this is the big story today. Sounds like sour grapes to me.

Star is the reason that I watched The View. I will no longer watch the show. The Network and Barbara were deceptive and unfair to Star. God doesn't like ugly. I believe that Star is prevail in the end. I think the end of The View is coming soon. Rosie O'Donnel will not make it on The View.

Nobody wanted Star Jones to lie about why she was leaving, they were trying to give her the chance to say whatever she wanted as to the reason. She was going to be canned anyway. Instead of releasing that, Walters and the network gave her an opportunity to back out with dignity and that she blew that chance. She should have had her big mouth stapled when she had her stomach done.

This morning I did something I've never done: switched away from the Today Show to GMA - this after a nauseating three, count 'em, THREE segments in a row with Al Roker interviewing Star Jones. Isn't this Star Jones attention one of the signs of the impending apocalypse?

It's good she doesn't have to fall back on her law degree, cause she doesn't have a law license to go with it. She gave it up last year. And they're not that easy to get back after you relinquish one.

Let me see if I understand: Star was told that she could handle it the way she wanted to and they would back her up. So she handled it the way she wanted to and they fired her early and Babs feels "betrayed". Huh?

CNN got "triple" its normal audience last night, beating H&C. Numbers available at TVNewser web site. THis is why CNN is running the hell out of it. This is an easy call; this is not hard.

Personally, I found Star Jones handled herself with class on Larry King Live. Have to wonder if the incoming Rosie O'Donnell with her recent public snipes over Star's weight loss had something to do with Star's exit as it didn't seem that Rosie is a fan based on her "former fattie" comments. Rosie's "star" clout could have greased the way for Star's departure. As for Star's classy interview, same could not be said for Anderson Cooper who took easy pot shots at Star by mimicking her smiling bravado on his show following Larry King Live in what was an obvious put down. Thought the normally smooth talking Mr. Anderson was tacky, tasteless and not terribly funny. Journalists are supposed to restrain themselves from revealing their opinions and biases and let viewers form their own opinions. Guess the mask slipped..eh Anderson?

I had noticed tension on the view the last few months, now I know why. As much as Star jones annoyed me, she is still a better speaker than Elisabeth and Barbara put together. That show has started to become a gossip tv rag and unintellectual since Lisa Ling has left. Time for a change network. What happened to "friends" Ms Walters? You looked like a bitch the next day after Star's resignation " and then there were three"? Your lack of ability to vocalize a situtation in a more professional way reinforced my thoughts that you are too old, move on and give us new blood and brains to listen to.You and that dingbat Elisabeth should leave, maybe then the show might live on.

Star keeps saying this was a business decision and she's a professional, but overlooks the fact that every day in corporate America people are told they must leave and given the option to look like it was their decision. They were doing her a favor by allowing her to save face, not telling her to lie. And so what that her contract wasn't renewed which means she was fired? She should have been fired after the first season. I've never seen such a self-involved host like her before. I'll actually go BACK to watching The View now that I won't have to listen to her diatribes.

Since Star and Meridth are out of the way, In September "The View" will become the Rosie O'Donell show. She is selfish and is unable to see things outside her frame of reference.
Barbara has been exposed for who she really is a liar and a manipulator. She is unable to carry a show on her on. She is only good for asking questions someone else has written. We know very little about who she is as a person. We know more about all the other View cast than Babs. She knows that if we knew the true Babs, we wouldn't like her.
