We could get into a whole TechTV/G4 debate all day and night long, but it's a tired debate at this point. Anyway, while my tired old ass can't stick around late enough to watch real TV at midnight, it's no surprise that I'm not exactly familar with a late-night block of programming on G4 called 'Midnight Spank'. Apparently I'm not alone in not watching Ed the Sock's Night Party, because G4 wants you to submit phone numbers of those counting sheep in order to "spank call" them into hopping out of bed and watching Braniac and Cinematech.Hey, if anyone gets the bright idea to try this on me, I've got a late-night block of programming for you that I like to call 'Midnight Boot in Your Ass.'

Well, thankfully we have a little thing called the "do not call list" which prohbits phone solicitations. I suppose this would count. Hello Litigation, G4!

I have no issues with G4's programming block. I've gotten over the TechTV thing and G4 sits as an unwatched channel on my dial. My thing is that G4 doesn't seem concerned with creating content for this block. Their answer is low-brow and imported TV shows from the UK.
And a video game clip show. Cinematheque is the biggest waste of a half hour on TV. I mean the fact that this show has any production crew is ludicrous. It's someone taping games off their xbox and PS2. really... Brainiac is an okay concept/show, but why import such a show when there's potential to create one that'll be more appealing to americans? Instead they do an also ran of Mythbusters.
I wrote off the channel a long time ago, and their recent programming block change only reflects how fickle and desperate the current management is in trying to grab some of that sweet Adult Swim money.
Don't believe me? Do some research on how much rebranding G4's gone through since they acquired TechTV.

I also wrote G4 off a long time ago... I doubt they will ever find their "Niche", it's just to late and they don't have the talent to pull it off...
