Looks like there are a lot of changes coming to MSNBC in the next few months, and that might mean some hosts might be out of a job.The first big change - and a shocking one - was the hiring of Dan Abrams as the new head of the news network. He was the top legal correspondent and host of the daily Abrams Report, and now he's in charge of the whole network. He says changes are coming, and it looks like many of the nighttime talk shows might be scrapped in favor of more taped reports and shows. As for daytime coverage, Abrams wants more "breaking news" coverage.
Two shows that won't be going anywhere? Countdown with Keith Olbermann and Chris Matthews' Hardball.

Not a good start for Dan keepping the worst two shows on MSNBC. They are essentially echo chambers of each other.
Olberman: Man those republicans are bad people.
Matthews: Conservatives have evil motives.
Great, more reasons to continue not tuning in.

Const, I totally agree. Olberman may be have given them a ratings surge but how long can people watch Olberman just be so mean and nasty to people. We need to move past that type of thing in this country. No one on the left is going to win on a platform of hate so I think the shows need to tone it down as well for them to get back into power.

Cee and Const, you are totally right. Why on earth would MSN keep on hate spewing shows like Olbermanns? They need to follow the lead of Fox News and put on level headed hosts like Hannity and O'Reilly who treat their guests with the kindness and courtesy they deserve. Oh wait....

As a former director at a 24 hour news network,I recognize the strategy, eliminate live news but
look for lots of animations, sound
effects and re-re-peats.

Haha, I was right. They are going to show more pedophile shows because of the ratings. I am good. I guess I was wrong on them firing Keith Olbermann. I swore his disregard for truth would have gotten him fired.

I'm not sure I understand why anyone would consider Olbermann AS divisive as the folks on Fox News or an example of the coarsening of cable political and cultural discourse. Olbermann doesn't shout down or berate his guests, a la O'Reilly on occasions too numerous to list here; nor does he willfully shade the truth as Hannity did in his comments on the Terri Schiavo issue. No one would characterize Olbermann as a conservative, to be sure, but is he hateful or mean-spirited toward the public figures he discusses? I don't think so. In my opinion, Olbermann does the best job of any pundit on cable television of letting a politician's, public figure's, or pundits own words damn them. I'm glad's he surviving the coming MSNBC program purge.
