Sad news here. This morning Showtime announced that Huff will not be back for a third season. The decision was made after numbers for the second season didn't exceed the low ratings of the first. I suppose it's nice that we at least got two seasons because if you recall, Showtime president Robert Greenblatt gave the second season a greenlight before the pilot even aired. If that hadn't happened, I might have been posting about this a year ago.
Hank Azaria and the rest of the cast were notified of the news earlier this week. They should feel proud of what they did accomplish though. A best supporting actress Emmy for Blythe Danner and nominations for Azaria and Oliver Platt are nothing to be ashamed about. And who knows if they'll get any more nods this year.
I'm especially disappointed by this as are some of my fellow TV Squadders. Heck, we even interviewed show creator Bob Lowry twice! Everyone should tune in to the season series finale this Sunday though. I've already had the opportunity to screen it and you won't be disappointed.

Ah. This is actually upsetting. Same feeling when Showtime cancelled Dead Like Me.

Very sad news indeed. "Huff" is/was a great show with so much emotions involved - almost as deep as "Six Feet Under". I really enjoyed every episode so far and I can't say that about most shows an television... But well, the good die young...

This is/was the best television ever aired. Unbelievable. A huge mistake. I suppose ratings weren't high enough because it was just too good and the general public can't handle anything above mediocrity. I am genuinely disappointed and will miss EVERY character! Oliver Platt, Blythe D., Hank Azaria--all of them. Oh, and the best performance of Sharon Stone's career! What a great show. I will miss Sunday's at the Huffstott's (sp).

Sorry to have to find such harsh words, but that's fucked up. This represents all that is wrong with the current studio system. Why not try selling it on iTunes, making a bundle? That shitty look at ratings in times of the Internet is just idiotic.
I feel like when NBC canceled Book of Daniel. And Dead Like Me hurt too. I got the DVD set and it just feels so hollow to have to watch the cliff hangy end without being able to see anything anymore.
There has to be a way to market quality programming these days. If not, Hollywood can pack and leave.

This is the reason I stopped watching shows like this on Showtime. They Fucking HOOKED me with "Dead Like Me" and boom, lets cancel it.
I guess they shows have to be about lesbians or that other show they had about the gay guys, in order to stay on their network.
Don't get me wrong I love WATCHING lesbians when they're naked and rolling around.

I won't be sad to see this show go. I liked it but there are better shows to watch. (the shield, rescue me, weeds, deadwood) It is infact not the best series that has ever aired. The ratings weren't high because this show was just depressing. It didnt really have any funny moments. Huff never really gave me an incentive to tune in because it was so depressing.

Wow. Wondering if I'm going to need premium cable channels at all with Deadwood and Huff going off at the end of the season. Very sad to see this show go.

This is why I don't bother with premium channels. I deal with enough disappointment over low rated but excellent shows on networks and basic cable. I don't need to pay for the privilege of watching a good show go too soon.
And these were supposed to be the guys to "save" Arrested Development?

I really hope they can at least wrap it up and not leave us hanging. Showtime is as bad a Fox for canceling shows. That is why I always hate new shows, I am afraid I will love them and then when hooked they stop....its insane!
At least have the writers write a book on the series and end it for us. we know Huff was going insane, I really want to know how this family ends. Especially with Bird starting to act just as crazy as the rest of the males in that family. PLEASE WRITE A BOOK!

It is a shame that a brilliant show like Huff was cancelled. I hope you or the writers at least have the common Courtesy to wrap up the series (something like Deadwood maybe)if not in a 2 hour episode maybe someone can write a book. We came to care about this family and it is a harsh way to end. Like a divorce. You really test the loyalty of your viewers when you up and do this out of the blue without even letting the series wrap up. I am disapointed.

Why with all the trash on T.V. would anyone pick Huff to cancel? Hours and hours of mediocre shows, then one or two like Huff and Deadwood, does the show have to sink to lowest common denominator for the powers that be to satisfied.Great acting, great writting guess you're right let's cancel.

Well, if not a book or wrap up episode, how about a spin off with Russell that helps give us some closure on all the characters? I can't help, but think the ratings problem was because the show was not promoted well.
