I'm not even sure when this happened, so it's probably not "breaking news." We told you a while back about Alton Brown's new TV show on Food Network, Feasting On Asphalt, where he will travel around the country on a motorcycle and sample various foods. Now comes word that Brown might have taken the title a little too literally, as he was involved in a rather serious motorcycle accident. He hit a ditch near Las Vegas, got thrown off the bike, and broke his collarbone.Info about the accident here in a piece Brown wrote for the New York Times, and there's a pic at Brown's web site.

Ouch! Interesting that they will actually air the footage of him crashing in the fourth episode. Well, at least he was wearing a helmet.
I stopped checking out AB's website a while ago, since he never updated it. Anyone know what exactly happened that caused him to preety much shut down the site? His last post before changing the site mentioned "sick and twisted" stuff that people were sending him. Anyone have any deets?

Josh,
AB asked viewers to send in pictures of what was in their fridge. People apparently started sending in nasty stuff that offended Alton in some way. After that he decided to cut off his blog and all direct contact with his fans. It kind of suprised me that he would be so naive about things on the internet and then be very childish and run away.
I kind of lost a little respect for him at that point.

What's with the bashing? Maybe you don't realize Alton is a father of a 6 year old. That 6 year old saw some of the "sick and twisted" stuff he got sent. Still think he's beeing childish and running away? I don't. I think he's been a protective father and frankly I don't blame him for taking a step back. He's only trying to protect himself and his family.

Regarding the show being only 4 episodes, I imagine between his two other shows (Good Eats and Iron Chef America) he may not have had the time to do a full blown series.
