Yesterday, Dustin Diamond, best known as Screech from Saved by the Bell, appeared on the Howard Stern show. During the appearance, he mentioned, among other things (let's just say the number "10" came up somewhere in the conversation... that's all I'll say about that) that he signed a messed-up land contract to get his house in Wisconsin, and for various reasons, he's about to lose it. As part of his efforts, he is selling t-shirts online for $15 ($20 if you want them signed by Dustin). It's not that he's destitute; Diamond tours the country as a stand-up comic. It's just that he had bad credit and had to rely on some shady people in order to get the house. He doesn't want to sell (though he'd make a profit) and wants to stay right where he is. So if you felt bad for Screech or identified with him (I certainly did), or just laughed at his Screechiness, go to Dustin's site and buy a shirt. Or just go to the site and laugh at him. It's up to you.
(Update: for all of the readers who are about to write, "Well, he should just get the money from his father, Neil Diamond, or his brother, Mike Diamond from the Beastie Boys," just stop right now. He is not related to either Diamond. Need proof? Look here.)

Dustin used to come and listen to the Main Street Piano Pianist at Disneyland. He was certainly a nice enough guy. I even felt a little sorry for him as he could usually only sit in one spot for 15-20 minutes before he was recognized by some screaming horde of teenage girls who came and wanted to tear off all his clothes... oh wait.

the thing that makes me so mad about this is that we are supposed to feel sorry for someone who is collecting each time that bell rings on TBS.
I've seen him around in Milwaukee and he won't even sign a measly autograph - so why should I pay 15 bucks to help him out?
lame.

When I lived in Fullerton California, I ran into Skreech when we were both teens and later when we were in our early 20's....both times he was an ass...first time he was in a theater trying to get free drinks and popcorn for an autograph...neither teen girl cared.
Then when I was working a Mcdonalds drive thru he came in a few times with his huge white suburban. Each time filled with toys and crap from the Brea Mall, each time a pain. He's one of those guys who likes to add or change his order after getting it at the second window. UGH!
The last time I ran into him was funny, cause he was just on TV talking about he had no money and was driving a green station wagon. Yeah right.

Not to pile on, but after a group of us saw him at a comedy club (don't laugh, we had free tickets), he pulled a friend of mine aside and asked the friend if he could help him get some cocaine. So I'm sure his woes are about more than bad land deals.

I saw Dustin do his stand up act once. He was terrible. It was as if he was trying to be the exact opposite of Screech. He was far from funny.

Ridiculous. This guy has made, and squandered, over $2 MILLION dollars before he was even 18. He blames his parents. He claims that he has a massive organ. I'm supposed to feel sorry for him? Pay him?
Forget about it.

I went to college for 4 years to work in the health field for $12.48 an hour to start. I lost my house because of the lousy pay and had to take care of welfare patients who had it better than me. Why should I care?

Let's see: he's working and not broke, he could sell the place for a profit but doesn't want to...and he wants my pity and my money. Ummmm nope, don't think so. Get some credit counseling and quit whining.

Yeah, like we don't all have financial problems. I have a mortgage and six kids, my husband is the only one working and we are getting ready to loose our home if we can't come up with more money. Can I sell T-Shirts and make extra money becasue I was famous, what 20 years ago, yeah right!

I've been out of work and unable to find a job in Michigan for over 8 months now. I can no longer draw unemployment and feel fortunate when I can garner even a temporary job. And I should feel sorry for this bozo that is going to lose his $248k house? Sell it for God's sake. Get a grip. And if you get enough to save your house, send the extra to me so I can continue to live. Period.

Ok. My 32-year old boyfriend was diagnosed with leukemia last year, less than a month after we had a baby boy. We have two children and my my boyfriend has been having trouble keeping his WBC count down. His oncologist is crap and the clinic never returns even important phone calls. We are now having trouble with our son's health and live in a house that is well over 70 years old...has no insulation, pipes leak, mold and mildew everywhere, lead paint, pipes, lead in soil...we will never get out of debt and we are supposed to consider helping this guy out who has no family or medical problems? He doesn't have to explain to his kids that he only has a few years left and will never get to see them enter middle school, much less graduate or get married. Please bozo, many more people have it much worse and they don't freakin' beg.
