Shocking news from the world of American Idol. While Taylor Hicks was the first to sign his recording contract because he actually won the contest, a handful of the other finalists are right behind him with recording contracts of their own. According to TMZ.com, RCA Music Group (which signs all the Idols) has already signed runner-up Katharine McPhee and is reportedly in negotiations with Chris Daughtry and Ace Young. Third placer Elliott Yamin is reportedly being wooed by Hollywood management company The Firm.At this point, I'd say it's a crapshoot. Who can guess which contestant will be most successful? So far, the only really successful non-winner seems to be Clay Aiken, who sued to break away from the Idol contract. And the only really successful winner is Kelly Clarkson, and that's because she split from 19 Entertainment, the management company that mis-manages all the Idol winners.

Somebody better grab Elliott. He appeals across all age ranges as opposed to Ace who is basically a solo boy band...and by the way...where did they all go? 15 minutes and gone.......

Clarkson is NOT the only successful winner. Carrie Underwood not only has two current hits, she also won two CMA awards.

This is the first year I really followed AI. I would have to say I predict Elliott will be the most successful. He has the most wonderful, unique voice. My son and I will be the first in line to buy the first album.

Carrie Underwood has become a hit in the country music world practically over night. It took Kelly Clarkson a while to become popular with non-Idol fans.

Bo's fairly successful as well - Clay's not the only runner up who is doing well.

When Carrie wins two Grammys, we'll talk, lol. Who pays attention to CMAs except people in country music? See the difference? Apples and oranges.

There is so much talent that came out of AI this year. However, it is Elliott Yamin who really touched our souls with his performances. My family cannot wait for his first CD. We play our little homemade CD with his performances over and over.

How many copies of Ace's CD will sell, do you think? His utterly undeserved 15 minutes were over long ago. And Daughtry was a fool to pass up his Fuel opportunity--I predict he'll be back in his local watering hole dodging beer bottles within the year. See ya both in the discount bin!! hee.

Kelly is great, but she is not the only successful Idol. Carrie Underwood is huge in Country right now - winning 2 CMA awards and selling plenty of CDs. Fantasia isn't as big, but she also has had some success in her genre, and she is set to star in a Lifetime movie about herself and her struggle with illiteracy.

Who is the moron who doesn't think that CMA awards count? The most popular, best selling music in America is Country Music. Seems as if someone's prejudice/bigotry is showing.

Carrie will be bigger than big. Everyone may not know country, but knows famous country singers and thinks the world of them, ie., Shania, Faith, even Dolly,, and a host of others!

Thanks to Elliott's fantastic interpretation of "Moody's Mood for Love" on the "Encores" CD, his duet with Mary J. Blige, and his collaboration (and subsequent spike in sales) on the hip-hop Gospel CD "Sound Doctrine" released by Big Planz, Elliott is gaining major credibility in the music world, particularly the R&B community. I believe that his talent transcends the usual racial/cultural/gender boundaries and that he will have solid, long term success as an artist. His music moves us and his life inspires us. I wish Elliott all the best; he deserves it!

Will Ace simply grace the CD cover or will he pretent to have talent and give us real music? I don't think so. Eliiot's CD is worth waiting for and so is Chris's.
Kat was ok, but I don't think I could stand a CD worth...maybe a voice on a soundtrack or two. Someone should save Ace the embarrassment and ask him to pursue modeling or acting instead. I think Vanilla ice had more talent.(LOL) And, I must add, he was fine.......
