I was a pretty big fan of the original Transformers cartoon, but never saw the feature film based on the same line of Hasbro toys. The movie has developed an odd kind of cult following, and has even been subtly alluded to in the mainstream in films such as Boogie Nights. It was also the last movie Orson Welles did before his death. The new 20th anniversary DVD set comes out in November, and will include behind-the-scenes footage and other premium content compiled with the help of Transformers fans. According to a plot synopsis, the movie takes place in 2005, twenty years after the TV show, and deals with the struggle between the Autobots and the Decepticons back on their home planet of Cybertron. Also, look for "updated" versions of the original toys around the same time the DVD comes out.Transformers the Movie special edition DVD coming in November

I can't believe you've never seen the movie. I used to make my mum rent that all the time when I was little. And it was really important in continuity, too, what with the death of ol' Prime. ;_;
And there was of course, the whole thing with Megatron...

One thing that I havent been able to find yet is if this new DVD will have the film in its original film aspect and not full frame like the current DVD is.

Man, that line rocked when I was 7. After that, my mother wouldn't let me watch the show. I kept repeating the line every time it seemed to apply...approaching doors...walking to the fridge...etc.
I don't know what happened on Transformers after the movie. I just know Hot Rod became Rodimus Prime, the new leader.

Well, for the upcoming live action movie to be released in July 07, I hope that they keep the storyline exactly the same as the original nineteen eighty's television series. More seriousness and a compelling story would also
be plus. My last wish, would be to have the original voice of Optimus Prime to remain the same in the 2006 live action movie release. The man responsible for the voice over of Optimus Prime was Peter Cullen.
