During last night's season premiere of Rescue Me, FX ran its first new preview for the second half of season five of The Shield. It's not supposed to return until January 2007 I think, but the promo still said "Coming Soon." They love to tease us. For those who missed it, here's how it played out.
After the obligatory "Viewer Discretion Advised," solid black screens flash with the following slugs:
- Detective Curtis Lemansky
- Born July 14, 1963
- Died March 21, 2006
- Cause of Death
Then it flashes through a quick montage of all the characters. It ends on Shane. Whew, still sends chills down my spine. It wraps with what I'm assuming is the tagline for the rest of the season: "No One Rests in Peace." Neither will I until 2007 rolls around. I can't wait.

I saw the promo last night and found it odd that FX would promo it as "Coming Soon", even though its not scheduled to return for at least another 7 months.
Is it possible that the show will return before the end of this year?

Is Kavanaugh gonna be in the next season? He absolutely made season 5 part 1, nailed to the role. It'll be interesting to see if IAD sticks around to investigate.

I believe the show WAS/IS supposed to come back in the fall with the remaining 10 episodes from season five. At least that what I remember reading when the first half of the season ended.

Kavanaugh will be back. A new team member for the Strike Team will also occur.

I doubt Kavanaugh will return for a full season. His case ended with Lem's death. Not to mention, the new HBIC (CCH Pounder) doesn't seem to care for his presence in the precinct. However, a cop killed while under investigation could, conceivably, keep him on indefinitely. He was getting close.

Anyone have a copy of the commercial? I've been taping Rescue Me and reruns of Nip/Tuck just to see try to see the teaser. No luck so far.

Didn't they mess up the ad, tho? I thought Cav gave Lem fishing lures as a b-day present, which apparently happened in then-present-day (ad says "died March 11, 2006"). That would mean his birthday was not in July, as shown in this new ad. Or did I get that mixed up?

Love The Shield, actually this fifth season was my first encounter of watching it Live. I picked my favorite character of the show and it was Lem. I was pissed off that Shane killed him. Anyway I heard rumors that the Sixth season will not be the last season. Chances are that it will finish the second half of the fifth season in late fall of 2006. Shawn Ryan made it clear that the seventh season will be the last. The Season will it's regular count of episodes of 13. The Sixth season will probably be about Vic and Ronnie trying to find out who killed Lem. Maybe Vic will find out that Shane was the killer in the season finale of the Sixth. I don't know about y'all but Shane's death will be a blood bath of grenades...
