Yup, the end of the Katie Couric era at The Today Show is this Wednesday, May 31. That's her last day on the NBC morning show. She'll work this summer preparing to take over for Bob Schieffer on the CBS Evening News in September. On Wednesday, expect a lot of tears, a lot of laughs, a lot of memories, and a lot of bloopers showing Katie messing up, laughing, and that time she punched Matt Lauer in the face. OK, just kidding on that last one.So who watches Katie here? If I'm up, I usually watch the Today Show, though the last couple of years I've been switching on over to ABC and CBS to see what stories/guests they have. Is anyone going to miss Couric? Anyone looking forward to Meredith Viera taking over?

I have been turned off by the Today show for the last five years or so. Viera does not change my views. The decision to put her in Couric's spot is not thinking out of the box. Viera is Couric-lite. I think this is bound to fail in the ratings.

I'll flip over to the network morning shows if there's something specific I'm looking for - like day after "Lost" reports from GMA. But on a regular basis, I'll stick with Soledad and Miles over on American Morning on CNN.
Less fluff and a case of family loyalty. LOL!

I haven't been able to stand Katie on the Today show for many years now. I once thought she was a great interviewer. Then she lost touch with reality somewhere along the way.
I'm excited by Viera's joining Today, and I definitely will be watching. She's nothing like Katie.

I'm sure NBC is going to pull out the stops to celebrate all that is Katie Couric -- ick! All I know about Meredith Viera is what I've seen on those rare occasions when my remote has brought me to The View and I'm not that impressed. Of course, I hear she has real news chops from the past, which is not what morning news wants.

I usually watch the Today show if Howard Stern's in reruns, but this morning I decided to listen to Opie & Anthony instead. Much more entertaining than watching Katie rub her legs in front of some big-shot actor.
Question: Is it going to be "The CBS Evening News with Katie Couric" or "The CBS Evening News with Katherine Couric"? The second one sounds better to me.

They should have thrown a boatload of money to Soledad to come back to NBC. She's a hottie, smart & young.
Meredith Viera? Did someone lose a bet?
