So here it is: the absolute best screenshot I could get of last nights big green bird that shrieked like some sort of pterodactyl. I couldn't get anything good from my DVR. I had to purchase the iTMS copy of the show and open the file in Quicktime, so that I could step frame by frame through the section. Clearly, it was a moment of computer-generated green birdiness last night, but what type of bird? The green made me think of the eagle on American currency, but that seems a stretch, even for this bizarre show. I played with the image some in Photoshop. I'm no expert, by any means, but check after the jump for some more pictures...

In this one I basically removed as much color as possible from the surrounding scenery.

Here, I cropped the image, sharpened the bird, and played with the curves a bit. Looks like some kind of hawk to me. What do you think?

The show's producers Cuse & Lideloff have commented on this bird in their official lost podcast. It is, The Hurley Bird. It did say "Hurley."

Maybe the bird is out for vengeance since its friend the green frog/toad was killed by Sawyer with Hurley's assistance. I think this bird maybe the key to the island.

I think that maybe this has something do with hurley's flashback in season 3. Remember how we saw kate's black horse, or jack's dad? Maybe Hurley saw this thing before he went to the island?

Also - this is the Only bird on the Island - it has been noted, and mentioned on the podcast that the jungle island has no birds - save one - the Hurley bird.

Don't forget we also saw and heard this bird at the end of season one, as they were hiking out to the Black Rock. At that point, I believe Hurley also asked if the bird said his name.

There was another bird shown in "THe Other 48 Days." The chicken that the "tailees" were chasing down.

But the real question is, did the Hurley bird catch the worm?
(sorry)

This may be a stretch but over here we kind-of have a theory about some of the animals. Kate's black horse representing the father she killed, Sawyer's boar representing the man he killed. Why can't this bird represent Libby for Hurley. Oh course, this theory is out the door if the bird was seen before in season one.

Here in Texas, that would be a Turkey Vulture, but, err,
green. Featherless head, large wings for gliding.
BTW, it is a carrion feeder, feeds on the dead.

Doesn't anyone else notice that the bird's "face" looks like "Dave"?

Doesn't the statue with the four toes resemble a bird's foot? just an observation.

Nope. Doesn't look like a bird's foot at all in my opinion.

so... wiki says it looks like a Kea bird. and i think theres a story about like, the legends of the kea. it tells of a giant shadow cast across the land ( maybe the monster ) because the bird is mad at everyone because they have done wrong.. i dunno, i can't remember the rest of the story.. and maybe thats a little too far fetched... even for lost.

Hey, Javier in Texas,
Your comment may have some credence in relation to Hurley's obsessive eating and the carrion feeder.
