(S06E24) I wasn't too excited about this episode mainly because I watched so few episodes this year. For whatever reason, this was the first season of CSI that didn't consistently hold my attention. This finale kept with that trend. It just wasn't that good. Especially when you consider how much they put into last year's two-hour Tarantino explosion. It was amazing. This one just felt like a regular episode.
Picking up where last week's cliffhanger left us, Brass has been shot in the right upper chest and he's rushed to the hospital where Grissom elects to have Brass go into surgery for the removal of the bullet. If you recall, Brass doesn't really have any family and he gave Grissom power of attorney over any medical decisions concerning Jim's life. Brass' estranged daughter Ellie (remember her? the recovering crack-head?) arrives after Grissom calls her up, but it seems she's more interested in her father's pension. She does come around near the end though, so she's not completely heartless.
In the meantime, the team looks into two different cases. One of them didn't really make an impact on me. It was just some guy who was dead in a hotel room. Lots of drugs. Lots of booze. Pretty standard stuff for Catherine and Warrick. Oh, now there's something. Last week we found out that Warrick and his wife aren't doing too well. So whatever happened to the potential romance between Catherine and Warrick? I know I missed a lot of episodes this season, but did that storyline get completely shelved? Fill me in if I'm off here.
The other case dealt with a dead Civil War re-enactor. Apparently he liked to get together with his buddies and pay homage to the Battle of Gettysburg right in the Vegas deserts. Sounds like fun? Not really. This was guy was hardcore though. He wore a corset all his life and had a 19-inch waist. His body looked like an hourglass when Nick and Grissom found him decapitated on some train tracks. That wasn't what killed him though. A bullet in the head took him down after he challenged a fellow war buff to a duel. He even slapped him with his white glove.
After the surgery, Brass pulls through. Everyone is happy. It's how the episode ended that left me asking questions. Grissom was lying in bed talking about how he'd like to die. He wants cancer so he has time to plan out and enjoy his last few months. At first I thought he was talking to himself... which I wouldn't put past Gil. But then Sara walked out of the bathroom wearing a white silk bathrobe! When did these two start getting together? I know it's always been there, Sara having the giant crush on Grissom and all. That was let out of the bag a few seasons ago. Seems like they both finally realized that life is short. I guess that's where the title came from though. Way to go Gil.

This was by far one of the worst finale's I've ever seen. The show is losing steam in a big way.

When did it happen? Right then. That was the big cliffhanger. Came out of nowhere, but not in an "Oh Wow!" sort of way. Just an "eh" sort of way. Or an "'bout time" sort of way. Or a "Dude, you really should've gone after Lady Heather" sort of way...

It was a terrible season, not consistent with character storylines. Grissom and Sara being "together" was the icing on the cake for me to leave (since Grissom wasn't ready to be with her until HE SAID SO obviously. That just pissed me off royally.)

Grissom & Sidle, not a good match. And yes, this version of CSI is losing me.
Although I cannot be considered a fan of David Caruso. I totally dislike him, but I've learned to put up with him. I use him and all his annoyances like comedic distraction. That being said, CSI-Miami has won me over.

No one even mentioned the lame image where we were supposed to find clues. It had almost nothing to do with the two episodes, besides the victim, and GG+?.

I thought it was a great job overall for CSI. Wasn't the most thrilling of seasons, but we had some really strong performances by various cast members in many episodes, such as Gum Drops, A Bullet Runs Through It and Way to Go. And I'm all for the Grissom and Sara storyline. It's been building up through the past six years, so it's about time they stopped teasing us. I thought the last scene was tastefully done, not over the top, and certainly in keeping with character and the nature of the show. Whatever complications one may infer -- inequality of rank, age diff, career jeopardy etc -- all that are normal in any relationship, and obviously Grissom & Sara love each other deeply enough to consider this relationship worth every effort and risk.

God what absolute drivel. For 6 years the show has pushed what an ethical man Gil is and then in 60 seconds they decide that he should be the type of slimeball boss who would sleep with his subordinate. One who I might add is not the most emotionally stable and has said outright that she makes inappropriate choices. A completely wasted opportunity to introduce a character (male or female) who would give Gil an honest reason to leave the lab at the end of next season.

This finale was excellent. Everyone's entitled to their own opinions, I guess, but I just don't understand why people are so adament against the Grissom/Sara relationship. They're made for each other. And it's been obvious since season 1, episode 2. These two have both been so much happier this season, which I love seeing. They are in love, and happy together. Let them be happy. I'm one who's been waiting (ok, obsessing!) for them to get together forever! It's about time. :) It'll be so interesting to see them next season trying to keep it secret, and to see what kind of problems they encounter. Lord knows we've gotten SO much Catherine drama through the years....let Grissom/Sara have their moment!

I din't like the ending with Gil & Sara. I am glad Brass lived because he is one out of 3 of my favorite characters. But I think it should have centered more around Brass and Gil's decision or something instead of throwing all these different angles in it.

I think that some people (myself included) who are against the Gil/Sarah dynamic are reacting to the professional ethics issue. Any supervisor who sleeps with his/her subordinate is sleazy. The only thing they could objectively evaluate the subordinate on is their "oral" skills and lets face it that category most likely is only on the evaluation forms of public speakers and sex workers. Top that off with the fact that for 6 yeasrs Gil has been portrayed as an ethical/honorable man and Sara has been protrayed as being a less than emotionally stable girl who makes inappropriate choices. For the record I do not think he should be with Catherine either while she is emationally stable she is shall I say ethically challenged sometimes.

I have enjoyed all of the CSI's (Las Vegas,Miami and especially NY} However; I am upset about the changes on NCIS. It will not be the same and I always looked forward to Tuesday night now I am going to have to find something else to watch. I cannot see the character of Tony being anything other than what he is, a loud obnoxious jerk, who thinks that he is God's gift to women. The way he treats McGee is extremely unprofessional.

The CSI sixth season finale was...a huge mistake. The stories were less than captivating and that Grissom and Sara scene at the end was absolutely horrid. It was very out of character and seemed forced.
The writing is going to have to get better for season 7 if they want CSI to stay on top.

I could not have been more disapointed in the CSI season finale! how can you go from one of the most watched episodes of TV form last years finale, to an ending like that?! the whole "2part finale" thing was a waist of my time. 1 it was so obvious it was goign to be brass who got shot, and 2, the advertisements were so missleading!! "it all leads to the biggest ending in CSI history" BULL! sara and gill getting ready to do it, made me gag if anything! BIGGEST ENDING? more like the worst EPISODE OF CSI!! and that includes CSI NY and CSI MIAMI... it should have been "it all leads to the worst and most unoriginal put together episode in CSI history"!!.. i mean come on! how in the world did they come up with THAT for an ending?! i really did like CSI before, but the producers proved that without a HUGE movie director, like Tarantino, that they are really getting bad at their jobs! CSI MIAMI was atleast tastefull, and left you wanting more, when the last seconds of the finale aired... Well CSI producers, and actors, i hope you have done yourselves proud, for misleading the viewers from advertisents, for not caring about the horrible acting in that finale, and for not even bothering to try for a good finale? did they just think nothing could compare to last years finale so why bothering trying? cuz thats what it looked like, and if they dont want to try, CBS and CTV, its time to cancell your orders for next season. CSI, you better hope you come up with a kiler season premier, and entire killer season, for season 7, cuz if u dont, i will lose intrest, and i am positive, so will A LOT of the other viewers. oh and might i add wouldn't it be good if they ACCTUALLY killed off a charcter, instead of tricking us the past 2 season?!!?!?!?!?!? COME ON, CSI MIAMI HAS KILLED OFF 3, AND NEW YORK HAS KILLE DOFF 1, and its only theri second season!! CSI, 6years!! NO MAJOR CHARACTERS DEAD!!! COME ON!!! (please kill catherine off!! turn it into some showdown between her and lindsay)... seriously i give SEASON 6 SEASON FINALE hte worst ratign for ANY CSI episode.. 0/5. in conclusion, CSI better have an AWESOME season premier to keep me watching, and i have seen every episode so far, and have been a major fan. i have even gotten a few of my friends to start watching it, well im gogin to start telling people to quit watching if, if there isnt a half decent episode on the the new season.... CSI, THAT EPISODE WAS TERRIBLE!

I was absolutely shocked at the grisson/sidle ending but after the rest of the show, to me it made perfect sense. Although there is a connection there, Gil has always adamantly denied it. I don't think it is so much out of ethics but out of fear of emotional involvement. Even when dealing with Jim Brass's possibly imminent death, he barely batted an eyelash. He does the job... he IS the job. To me, this ending with the two of them is like Gil has stepped over that line, not into an ethical dilemma but into being a real human being and accepting that he cannot live his life alone. It was like he saw Jim, not having any family who cared, having to leave his life in the hands of a co-worker that he doesnt' even hang out with and he realized he didn't want to end up like that. I just hope that the writers don't "write this off" as a trauma induced one time incident and try to avoid the follow up to this.

I was disappointed with this ep - first, there was way too much hype over it for what they eventually left us with.
And this is completely out-of-character for Grissom. It doesn't matter what attraction may be there, nor what emotional upheaval he's going through because of Brass alomst dying. They are members of the SAME UNIT, and that's a big no-no in any law enforcement agency (I just got done with three seasons of it during Sue Thomas, FBEye... I figured the CSI writers knew better).
All I can say is that I expect to see CSI Sidle in another unit (or another CITY) with the beginning os next season, or I'll stick with Criminal Minds...

I will admit that the finale was less than stellar, especially after all the hype leading up to it. However, I think, had it not been hyped to the degree it was, it would have been passable. CSI had a very big problem in that there was no way to live up to last year's season finale "Grave Danger." So, they went with a new, quirky approach. Unfortunately, after all the promos and pictures online, I think we were all expecting a lot more than what we got.
As for the Gil/Sara ending. I was pleased at the way it happened. I've often wondered how the show would handle these two coming together after the years of flirting, and I think it was well-done. Rather than showing us a first kiss/first time together scenario, we were given a glimpse into a relationship that was established, and that had not, thus far, dramatically altered any of the other dynamics on the show. I believe that the fact that these two are supposed to have been together for a while was a bright move, showing that the writers can tell the stories and stick to the cases while these two are together off-screen.
I do not see Grissom's actions in engaging in a relationship with Sara as detracting from anything we've seen before. I see this as a moment of growth for him, showing him opening up enough to another human being to let them in. "Butterflied" established that he has fears of connecting with people, because he's built up this world that he feels safe in. Letting Sara in breaks that safety because, inevitably, letting another person into one's life creates chaos.
I think it's wonderful to see Grissom, the human being; Grissom, the man; rather than Grissom, the machine.

I, for one, thought the last few seconds of the episode made the rest of it bearable. I just wonder if it had been Catherine coming out of the bathroom and walking towards Grissom, would he have been considered the "slimeball" others on here seem to think he was? There has always been a chemistry between Grissom and Sara that was not there between him and anyone else.
Catherine and he are the best of friends, and love each other that way, but they just aren't meant to be together as a couple.
The stories were pretty sad. As a diabetic myself, I thought the one storyline regarding the man who had been diagnosed with diabetis truly sucked. They should have concentrated more on Brass than wasting time on that particular plotline.
As for Quentin Tarantino's finale last year, now I know why I don't see any of his movies. It was great all the way up until the end, when Nick was rescued. A finale is meant to leave us all guessing what happens, you know, like "Who shot J.R." or "Will Harm survive being the ocean until September?" The plotline was good, the ending was not.
I'll take Grissom and Sara ANY DAY, ALL THE TIME. I just hope TPTB will realize that they can't please everyone all the time and continue the relationship with Grissom and Sara. How can anyone call Grissom a "slimeball" because he sleeps with a woman he loves, yet think it's okay to sleep with Lady Heather, or as they would prefer, Catherine.
