As Joel reported yesterday, ABC has canceled the Presidential drama Commander-In-Chief, saying it might come back as a two hour movie. But now Zap2it.com is reporting that not only will the two hour movie wrap up the storyline, but it could actually revive the series if it gets good enough ratings and the network thinks the show could succeed in a different form.Chances of a TV movie? Excellent. Chances of the show coming back as a regular series? I'd say slightly less than zero.

Absolutely - a CIC movie would be great. I loved the show, and was sad they cut it off the other week.
As far as coming back? Yeah, right. About as much chance as TWIN PEAKS was gonna come back.
ABC is doing to COMMANDER exactly as they had done to TWIN PEAKS. Wrap up the remaining episodes by cramming them together in a movie. KAPUT!

I'm a fan of CIC but acknowledge the fact that changes need to be made. Still, you can't expect a locomotive to switch tracks a full-steam. A haitus and a movie might be just what the doctor ordered.

Commander-In-Chief is a show that I really want to like.
I've watched every show--some on TV, others on ABC.com--yet I always walk away feeling dissatisfied.
If the show were retooled, I think it would be a monster hit (like when it had 17 million viewers originally). I hope that ABC rethinks the show and puts it back on in 2007.

Man, talk about the poster child series for why not to tinker with a show - such great casting, such good to great performances, a canvas of interesting characters that were never utilized at the expense of a focus on every bad Bochcoism - I'd be in, but only if it's Lurie fulfilling his vision.
And besides, if it works, maybe Peter Berg can revisit "Wonderland" :-)

I still think airing against "House" and the "MLB Playoffs" on FOX in 4th Quarter of 2005 took a little steam out of the show.
That and it was a pale imitation of "The West Wing."

I would watch the movie, and I would love for the show to come back. It was something different for once. With some new, clever dialog and a time slot that doesn't change every ten minutes, it would do very well.
I wish some other network would pick it up and give it the treatment it deserves. ABC sucks.

I loved the show, it had great characters, interesting plots and even good realistic politics and decision-making that could benefit our present White House. It's too bad that ABC decided to disect it and water it down. Hope that it comes back in the same way that Star Trek did. It's by far some of the best fare offered at this time.

I didn't see anybody at NBC clamoring to bring back 'Homicide: Life On The Street' after the TV movie which wrapped up storylines for various characters on that show.
And I really enjoyed that movie. Loved the series as well, of course, and would gladly have come back for a new go-round in Bal'mer.

Oh! And I hope they hold off on any DVD release of a CiC boxed set until after a TV movie has been aired. It would be nice to have the show complete in one collection.

Yes, well im with Bob here. A movie would be great. This show was really great to start off with. Tho I think it started to loose steam. Really I think you want to see more drama, like is it a Desperate Housewives Show with all the excitement contained within the main charachters. I think the episode with the Korean crisis was actually good. Tho something on that magnitude wouldn't be needed again. But still something that doesn't involve bitching between her and her husband, and also when her Chief of Staff shows some emotion it is always a good sign

ABC dropped the ball with this one. Timing was perfect with West Wing ending. They messed with the episodes and scheduling and dug their own grave.

Yes, I would watch the movie. I hope a movie would draw more people to want to watch Commander. If ABC can't retool the show & have it on next year. I hope that one of the other networks will pickit up & make a good run with it.

I am simply amazed that ABC is dumping CIC. Hello?
When they decide to bring back the Bachlor.
Get real! Who does this?
ABC dropped the ball.
I shouldn't be upset...everytime I find a show that keeps you interested they either move it, or destroy the momentum.
It's to bad. Sutherland and Davis are to great actors.
ABC needs to think outside of the box.

Greetings Everyone!
I just created a petition to try and save "Commander In Chief". I know that the people at NOW had people email ABC directly to try to do so, but it didn't seem to pan out. I wanted to try and gather a petition so they could see how important this show really is.
I'm disgusted at the tactics of producers and executives. It seems just when a new, female-strong show is brought to light that they immediately switch it to another time slot (inconvenient at that), to somehow "prove" that it doesn't have great ratings.... thus cancelling it.
Everytime this show has been on, I've said to my friend, "Hey, our president is on!" I feel it's about time that shows like this are brought into everyday consciousness. It gives girls and women a window into what the world can be like, and how to deal with it with integrity. It also shows men (perhaps why it's being cancelled) how a woman can truly run a country with compromise, a true sense of fairness, and being able to think outside the box.

Thank you for taking the time to read my thoughts.
Brightest Blessings,
Raven

Bring it Back; Bring it Back....this show is excellent. Well scripted, well played. And as a female president...this shows a person (just happens to be a woman) as an excellent president. What in the world is wrong with ABC. My family, a vietnam vet father, at home mother, me - a out-of-home working mother, a union husband and son, and a military son and teenage son....everyone gave it praise. In my father's words..."they take off every show people enjoy and keep the reality crap."
I agree.
