The Daily ShowLast night, Jon Stewart was super-excited, with spritzer in hand, to have a nice evening with Oprah's Legends Ball. To his dismay, he only got President Bush's speech about immigration and a few other important issues ("I've just read on the Internet that there are snakes on a plane").

"Borders" (like this, heh): Haha, I loved how the Mexican border mirrored Bush's approval rating. And Jon did another "... meet me at Camera 3" thing, but this time for Mexico. In his best Spanish accent, he noted, "You look muy... taco." Haha, nice. The Trojan pinata full of Mexican immigrants was also a rather nice touch.

"Are You Prepared?!?": Samantha Bee filed a report in which she attempted to scare homeowners into getting prepared for "death that will kill you". Most people wouldn't let her into their homes (even when she disguised her van as the Prize Patrol and grabbed a handful of balloons), but those who did were subjected to her scare tactics. I laughed out loud several times during this report... especially when she hugged the married guy right in front of his wife and offered to be his "apocalypse fuck buddy". Amazing. Best Bee report in a while.

The night's guest was Denis Leary, star of FX's Rescue Me. Now, this was how a comedian is supposed to behave during an interview... not doing rehashed stand-up bits. Leary was funny, but not overpowering, and worked really well with Jon, resulting in a really pleasant and enjoyable interview. He and Jon talked a little about Rescue Me, how Leary's son is now 6' 5" (goodness), and Leary spent the final moments of the interview plugging some stuff he liked (Rescue Me soundtrack; Twilight Singers' "Powder Burns", some album he really likes; When Stand-Up Stood Out; Rescue Me DVD; the Denis Leary collection thing; and Black Adder, which I was pleasantly surprised to see, because Hugh Laurie love is always good to share.) Jon had to physically jump on Leary to stop him. Awww. Sorry, I thought it was immensely cute. Kittens playing with yarn doesn't get me, but middle-aged comedian horseplay will send me into overload.

Jon/Stephen: Stephen Colbert's got a bad case of Tony fever, complete with jazz-hand sneezes. Moment of Zen: Oops. Cut to Bush a little too early.
