NBC released its fall 2006 schedule today, and while there are many predictable comings and goings, there are a couple of surprises too:In: Deal Or No Deal, Medium, Law and Order: SVU, The Biggest Loser, Law and Order, My Name Is Earl, The Office, Las Vegas, Law and Order: CI, Dateline, Scrubs, Crossing Jordan, The Apprentice
Out: Surface, Joey, E-Ring, West Wing, Will and Grace, Four Kings, Teachers, Heist, Celebrity Cooking Showdown, Conviction
New: Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, Heroes, Friday Night Lights, Kidnapped, 20 Good Years, 30 Rock, The Black Donnellys, Football Night In America, Sunday Night Football, America's Got Talent, Raines, The Singles Table, Andy Barker, P.I.
Interesting lineup too, as Studio 60 goes into the Thursday at 9 slot (after Earl and The Office) and ER stays at 10 (til January, when The Black Donnellys take over for a while).
Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip is Aaron Sorkin's comedy/drama about the behind-the-scenes goings of an SNL-ish show. Stars Matthew Perry, Amanda Peet, Bradley Whitford, Steven Weber, and D.L. Hughley.
Andy Barker, P.I. is Andy Richter's comedy (produced by Conan O'Brien) about a bumbling private eye that FOX passed on. No scheduled day/time yet.
30 Rock is Tina Fey's comedy about a late night variety show that some thought might not make the schedule because of Studio 60. Co-stars Alec Baldwin. Wednesday at 9:30.
Friday Night Lights is based on the movie about high school football. Tuesdays at 8.
America's Got Talent is the new Simon Cowell show hosted by Regis Philbin. It will air on Sunday nights starting in January.
Raines is the new Jeff Goldblum drama about a quirky detective.
The Black Donnellys is a crime drama from Paul Haggis, starring Jonathan Tucker and Billy Lush.
Heroes is a new superhero drama, starring Milo Ventimiglia and Sendhil Ramamurthy. Mondays at 9.
20 Good Years is a comedy with Jeffrey Tambor and John Lithgow. Wednesday at 9.
Kidnapped is a crime drama too, with a whole season about a kidnapping, starring Jeremy Sisto, Delroy Lindo, and Timothy Hutton. Tuesdays at 9.
The Singles Table is about strangers who meet at a wedding, starring John Cho and Jarrad Paul. No scheduled day/time yet.
Football Night In America will air one hour before Sunday Night Football, at 7.
Note: Scrubs and Crossing Jordan won't come back til later in the season. Sorry fans!

You might want to mention that Earl/Office are moving to 8 and 8:30. I was confused until I slogged through the full story.

Wow, and Surface ended on a cliffhanger too...
they should put it on Sci-Fi Channel as a Sci Fi Original.

I like the "Black Donnelys" strategy. "ER" runs uninterrupted through Christmas," "Donnelys" runs in that time slot in January/February, and the "ER" comes back from the cliffhanger. If this is the season for "ER," NBC will have already tried a show out in that time slot.
"Friday Night Lights" on Tuesdays? Sounds kind of of silly, but I suppose the high school football followers that NBC might expect to watch aren't home on Friday nights in the fall. They're at a high school football game.
"Studio 60" AND "30 Rock"? I get that they're totally different kinds of shows, but it still seems like overkill homage to one of NBC's few bankable properties: "SNL."
Didn't see "The Apprentice" on the fall schedule. I understand there's a season in the can that could air this summer and another in production. I suppose it could go midseason. (Just kill it already!)
I hate to see "Scrubs" go midseason again, but at least we'll have new episodes every week starting January like they did this season.
I hope NBC and the other nets get that showing long blocks of reruns is bad for show loyalty. I the rumors are right that ABC is going to show "Lost" either in two blocks or delaying the start until January.

How could they not renew Surface...it was getting decent ratings. I am through with NBC... I will keep watching Vegas but I'm not picking up any of their new shows. No sense watching if it doesn't get a chance.

Two shows I'm most intrested in seeing are Studio 60 and 20 Good Years. 30 Rock probably won't make with such a strong cast and writing and directing for Studio 60, 30 Rock will probably be cancealed (no pun intended) out by them. Sucks Scrubs won't be on till mid-season, then again let's count out blessing that it's STILL on.

Cancelling surface is a stupid decision.
I mean NBC owns SciFi ... you'd think that it would be a no-brainer move ... better than Law & Order episodes or Soap Opera re-runs

Well, I thought NBC made some interesting choices here; both in terms of what they are offering and the way in which they juggled the schedule a bit. I was disappointed to see Surface not renewed, but the writing was on the wall. Granted, NBC renewed shows with worse ratings, but those are in-house produced shows, aren't they? While I like some of the shows NBC is presenting for next season -- Studio 60 and The Black Donnellys look good -- I still don't think this will bring them back to the top. Sunday Night Football, however, just might be a good idea for a competitor to Housewives and Grey's.

"Heroes"....
Sounds interesting, but who has a bigger beef here -- The X-Men or M. Night Shyalaman? :)

Well that is very interesting I quite enjoyed "Teachers" it was pretty funny I dunno but all I cared about is that The Office is back in action cause I would probably die after that ending and I need to hear more Micheal Scott jokes. And Scrubs YAH that one was unknown I figured it would keep going but you never know. So I will be very interested to see how this fall goes for NBC.

i kinda hate to see "Conviction" go...it was getting pretty good. but i guess in the sphere of things, Dick Wolf must have thought that this show could kinda sorta replace "Law & Order: Trial By Jury" which got yanked after 5 (?) episodes. as for "ER" well, it's another NBC veteran and to me it still has some pretty good episodes that are worth watching. i hope it doesnt get kicked out of its 9 pm slot on Thursdays.
