(S09E11) This week's penultimate episode has the sole purpose of eliminating one last team from the race so they try to make it interesting with stunt eating and monkeys and a couple of rather tepid challenges. With one million dollars on the line and only four teams left, it seemed like a strange time to bring out challenges like fruit arranging and Buddha painting. What's left for the finale, the great knitting challenge? As we begin, this time the Hippies not only need money, they need clothes. Yolanda donates purple pants and Eric and Jeremy throw in a couple of sandals. BJ and Tyler are really excellent beggars. If they don't win the million they could have quite a brisk panhandling career.
Finally, an eating challenge comes in the form of a fast forward. The first team to eat a bunch of deep fried crickets earns the prize. Ray and Yolanda and BJ and Tyler sit down to a meal of crickets. It takes one cricket for Yolanda and Ray to ditch the crickets.
Eric and Jeremy are enthralled by the monkeys of Thailand, partially because the life of a monkey involves lazing around and scratching fleas, pretty much their dream gig. The roadblock involves preparing a feast for the monkeys, which Eric and Jeremy are happy to do. It's pretty cute watching the monkeys sneak away with the food as fast as the teams can put it on the table. It's not so cute watching the predictably petulant Monica sulk on the sidelines when she and Joseph arrive late.
The Detour involves either transporting 72 clay pots on wooden boards or making a shrine to Buddha. MoJo once again make a detour switch going from gilding Buddha (which Eric and Jeremy and Ray and Yolanda are doing) to carrying pots. Monica is as happy to be toting around pots as she was to carry that giant fish she had to lug around a few challenges ago. At one point she is toting only two pots on a giant board and weeping. As much as she bugs me, I almost feel sorry for her. You can tell she's just so done at this point.
Due to their cricket munching prowess BJ and Tyler are first, Eric and Jeremy skate to second, leaving Ray and Yolanda and MoJo to fight for last. Ray and Yolanda are team three bringing a swift end to MoJo. You'd think there would be much fussing and pouting, but instead Monica returns to being the sweet-natured girl she was at the start of the race. She's probably just happy to be done with all that running around.
One last thing, why, when Ray and Yolanda win the Travelocity prize does he not look excited? I get the impression he is going to break up with her as soon as this race is over. Does anyone else feel that way?

Why does everyone pick on the black team, week after week? Give it a rest already, sheesh. At least they are the normal 'bunch'.

I missed where anyone was picking on them, especially for being black. If anything, he made fun of the frat boys for being slackers.
I also missed what the amazing prize was for the golden gnome as I switched over to see which girl was booted from Top Model. Can anyone enlighten me?

The prize was Australian-centered...a cruise around Sydney Harbour in a private yacht and a visit to a vineyard.
Ray has never shown much emotion. I imagine after running around the globe, a trip probably doesn't hold that much appeal.

Oh, I am so darned happy that it was MoJo! Did I almost feel sorry for Mo at the end? No, not really.

Pretty clear that MoJo (or, specifically, Mo) didn't have what it took. She was a wreck.
Major points for Jeremy's "We do a lot of gold-leafing during our leisure time." (or something to that effect.) Hilarious.

The hippie's forging into the lead remind me of the Weaver's. What dumb luck!! I can't beleive those long haired freaks - what a long strange trip its been indeed!!! I bet they had a lot of "mary jane" during the trip. MoJo would never do something like that to have a good time!! I could have a good time with Monica anywhere. So if you are available and reading this (Monica), call me!!- As a contractor, I can "fir it out" pretty good, if you know what I mean!!!!!!

Go Hippies!!! Tonite's your night to shine! I don't think they're sitting aroung getting high, especially on this important of a game. I think they're just fun-loving guys who maybe look a little different than you do.
